Stacking the Shelves #5

Posted January 30, 2016 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 50 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
I added quite a few books once again this week.  I am trying to use restraint when it comes to requesting books for review right now but I am not having a lot of luck.  I love to read but I just can’t seem to stop looking for new books to add.   I was able to grab a whole lot of reading material for under $1 this week.

NetGalley

With Malice by Eileen Cook
Fowl Language: Welcome to Parenting by Brian Gordon
The Girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell

I couldn’t resist Fowl Language since I love these cartoons that I have seen all over the internet.  I requested The Girls in the Garden quite a while ago and just had my request approved.  It looks like a good read.  With Malice sounds pretty amazing – I couldn’t help it.  I had to click on that one.

Edelweiss

The Fireman by Joe Hill

I am still a little shocked that I was actually approved for The Fireman.  I am really looking forward to this one.

Kindle Freebies

Harmony Black by Craig Schaefer (Kindle First pick)
Black Falcon’s Lady by Kimberly Cates
Gather the Stars by Kimberly Cates

I don’t even try to use any self control when it comes to freebies.  I grab any and all that sound like something I might possibly want to read some day.

Paid Books

The Kingdom by Amanda Stevens
I have had the first book in this series sitting on my kindle for a long time.  When I saw this book on sale for $0.99, I had to grab it.
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I've just properly read the summary for The Fireman and I'm kind of intrigued. Awesome luck being approved for it! Hope you enjoy.

  2. That's quite the haul. I have a problem with requesting too many books too, because I'd like to read some oldies too. But I've done a really good job of not requesting them lately, and I only have two left. 🙂 Now that I'm talking about it I have an itch to see what's out there.

  3. Fowl Language is seriously tempting me! It always makes me laugh. Yay for Lisa Jewell and Joe Hill! Both are authors I really want to read – especially Lisa Jewel. Hope you enjoy them!

Fowl Language seems like it will make you LOL. I've seen With Malice and Girl in the Garden around, but haven't gotten on board yet. Hope you have a wonderful week and happy reading!

  5. Interesting haul this week Carole! Fowl Language seemed so funny! Looking forward to your thoughts on that one 😉 Freebies are a danger to our resistance, hope you enjoy your books 🙂

    • I downloaded and read Fowl Language right away. I did think it was funny. I don't stress too much about getting the freebies read. I know that I will have more reading time in my life at some time to catch up on all of these books.

  6. I have the same problem, Carole, I can never stop getting new books even though I already have so many to read! 😉 I hope you enjoy every one of these. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  7. I have the Amanda Stevens book through Netgalley. I have got to get around to reading that one soon!

I also have the J.L. Bryan book; I did a tour for that one a while back.

Some of your other books look really interesting, especially the Joe Hill book.

I hope you enjoy them all!
