Stacking the Shelves #13

Posted March 26, 2016 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 44 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
I went a bit crazy this week.  I would say that I lost control but I don’t really think I even attempted any control this week.  I actually feel okay about the audiobooks and the digital books that I added this week.  I admit that I probably bought too many print books this week but I don’t even care.  Books don’t have an expiration date and they don’t go back so we will get to them when we can.  I was off a couple of days this week during my teenage daughter’s spring break and we had a lot of fun shopping for books together.  Some of the books in the last couple of photos are hers, some are mine, and some are for both of us.  We had fun and didn’t spend a lot of money so that is a win in my opinion.

Audiobooks

Menagerie by Rachel Vincent (Purchased)
Pack by Jeaniene Frost (For Review)
The Church of Dead Girls by Stephen Dobyns (For Review)
The Killing Jar by Jennifer Bosworth (For Review)

I was really excited to see Menagerie on sale this week and can’t wait to listen to it.  I have already listened to Pack and enjoyed it quite a bit. I plan to listen to the other two books sometime in April.

Digital Books
Good Girl by Lauren Layne (NetGalley – for Review)
Claimed by Rebecca Zanetti (Purchased)
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Adieh (Purchased)
Imperfect Chemistry by Mary Frame (Freebie)
Reckless by Maggie Shayne (Freebie)
The Heretic by Joseph Nassise (Freebie)
Dog with a Bone by Hailey Edwards (Freebie)
Charred Heart by Lizzy Ford (Freebie)
The Ruby Brooch by  Katherine Lowry Logan (Freebie)
I only picked up one new ARC to read.  I couldn’t pass up Lauren Layne’s new book.  I have had the first book in the Rebecca Zanetti series for a while so I grabbed the second one when it was offered as the deal of the day.  When I saw The Wrath and the Dawn for sale, I went ahead and picked it up as well since I have seen some great reviews for that one.
Print Books
Magic in the Blood by Devon Monk (Paperback Swap)
Magic in the Shadows by Devon Monk (Paperback Swap)
I now have the first 4 books in this series in my possession so hopefully I will be able to start reading it soon.

I picked up this big pile of books at my local dollar store.  I am not going to list them all but I am pretty happy with my purchase. 15 brand new books for $15 plus tax – you almost can’t beat that!

I felt like I hit the jackpot when I got these books.  I went to the new Goodwill Outlet in my area to take a look around.  Once I starting seeing ARCs for recent books in the bins, I rolled my sleeves up and took a better look.  The books are priced by the inch at this store.  So you just pile your books up like in the photo at the check out and they measure your pile with a ruler.  The books cost 15ยข per inch so all of these books cost less than $6!!

What books do you add to your shelves this week?

  1. I totally go hog wild when I find used books on sale and books at dollar stores so no judgment here. You caught some good sales online, too.

    Nicely done, Carole!

  2. Ooh a nice big pile of books this week! I do love a week where I have no control and just don't care! That should keep you busy for a while! I wish I had access to Goodwill, much better than our charity shops…

    • When we were finding these deals, my daughter looked at me and said she was having fun so that makes it even better. I love Goodwill but this was my first experience at the outlet where the prices are even lower.

  3. I saw The Wrath and the Dawn on sale but didn't jump right into it just because I'm still undecided about it. I like looking at your huge stack of books! It's always been my wish to get a stack like that. Great haul! I hope you enjoy them all!

  4. I love the 'inch' method! I also visited my local thrift store this week. I used to find the greatest books but lately it's just been some good chapter books for my daughter's little library. I love getting great books for cheap! Happy Reading!

  5. It's okay to have no control when buying books that are on sale. I know I would go crazy too if I had the chance to walk into a dollar store and buy books that interest me. Awesome haul!

  6. Looks like you got your hands on some AWESOME stuff this week!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed you enjoy The Wrath and the Dawn; I know I've been seeing a LOT of mixed reviews on it lately, but I adore that book–it was one of my top favorites of 2015. Here's hoping it treats you well!

Great haul this week! Here's hoping you enjoy your new acquisitions! Happy book-ing to you!

  7. That's so cool paying for books by the inch. Plus it's for a good cause. Menagerie was one of my favorite books last year. I hope you love it and I can't wait for the sequel. Hope you love all your books and shopping with your daughter sounds fun.

  8. So many books! I don't even know where to start. I loved The Killing Jar and The Wrath and the Dawn. I'm not even going to look at the rest of pictures, LOL. ๐Ÿ˜€ I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a fantastic weekend. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. what a great group of books you added to your shelves. I love finding books for so cheap and you found some great ones here. Yay for Rebecca Zanetti…I love her books. Hope you enjoy Good Girl, I am very curious about that one.

  10. You need to read The Wrath and the Dawn. I'm not sure if it's your type of book or not, but I LOVED it. It's gorgeous. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Bea

You can't have too many books! And you did well, using deals and buying used. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy!

  12. How do you get audiobooks for reviews? Just curious. ๐Ÿ™‚ And we have similar pricing through our library. Only all the books you can fit in a bag for $5. So if you bring an entire suitcase and fill it up with books, it's still going to cost you $5. Lol. Enjoy your books!

  13. Ooooh, Menagerie by Rachel Vincent is one that I really want to read! Can't wait to hear what you think. You had some awesome finds this week! Enjoy them! Thanks for visiting my Sunday Post earlier!
