Stacking the Shelves #46

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
This was not one of my best weeks.  Last weekend was great but going back to work after a week off was very hard.  I started the week out with a lot of carpal tunnel problems and ended the week with migraines that send me to bed early.  I had a lot of trouble looking a computer screen with the migraine so I didn’t get a couple of reviews posted as planned.

I did do some book shopping last weekend and I have to say that I am a little embarrassed about this week’s haul.  On top of the books listed, I also placed an order at Book Outlet that I hope shows up sometime next week.  My main bookish purchase was a new Kindle Voyage!  I love it so far.  I know that I didn’t need it since I already had 3 e-ink Kindles, a Kindle Fire, and a Samsung Tablet.  I collect books so why not collect Kindles as well?

I will be spending my Saturday at the All State Band auditions with my daughter.  This is an all day event that could take 8 to 12 hours.  If there is wifi available, I hope to be able to be online but I may not get a chance to make my rounds until Sunday if the internet isn’t available.

Digital Books
Roman by Sawyer Bennett (NetGalley)
I am behind with this series but have enjoyed the books that I have read.  I am looking forward to catching up with the Cold Fury Hockey team.
Print Books
The Making of Outlander by Tara Bennett (Amazon Purchase)
Have I mentioned how obsessed with Outlander I am right now?  As soon as I saw the $10 coupon on Amazon, I snatched this up right away.

Audiobooks

The Scottish Prisoner by Diana Gabaldon (Audible Purchase)
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (Audible Purchase)
A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman (Audible Purchase)

I went completely crazy with the Audible sale.  I can’t even believe that I bought this many audiobooks.  I actually didn’t buy them all at once and it didn’t seem like as many in my mind until I started listing them.  At least I should have enough to keep me busy for a while.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Sorry about the carpal tunnel and migraines 🙁 I haven't been able to stop buying ebooks this week with all the sales. That is A LOT of audios. They should keep you busy for a while. Have a great week!

  2. For me it was sharks, snakes, dinosaurs, real life hero and some urban fantasy this week! I think I need to check out the Amazon ebooks now and see if I can grab anything cheap!

  3. Sorry to hear about the migraines and carpal tunnel! That bites! But yay for a new kindle!! I have a Voyage as well and looooove it! Especially with the auto adjusting light thing! That's pretty nifty! I saw they did an upgrade on the Voyage even, but I am not sure I like it. It has the weird handle on the side to hold and I'm still use to reading with two hands! LOL! My kindle is used primarily for e-arcs from Netgalley and such. And those rare e-only novellas! And a few random ebooks that are still sitting unread! LOL!

See lots of new books here and a few I still need to read! Like A Promise of Fire! Have heard amazing things about that one and I cannot wait to read it!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  4. We've both been dealing with migraines this week. Being off for 5 days for Thanksgiving didn't do anything but make me read on my Kindle a lot, so by Monday my head was pounding. By the time my lunch break came on Monday, I was nauseous and had to leave work. I felt better after meds and sleep.

I'm loving the Outlander series, and am on Drums of Autumn. If I read nonstop today and tomorrow, I should be finished and start The Fiery Cross. I am addicted!

Hope you enjoy all of your new books!

  5. SO many good lucks to your daughter today–I'm sure she'll do AWESOME!

You got so many audiobooks, oh my penguins! here's hoping you enjoy them ALL when you get the chance to listen to them!

Here's my Stacking the Shelves post this week, if you're interested in checking it out. No pressure or worries if you're not, though! Either way, happy book-ing; I hope you enjoy all your recent acquisitions! Have a great rest of your weekend! <3

  6. Yikes! Carpel Tunnel and Migraines would slay me for the week, too.

Haha! Yes, collecting e-readers only makes sense to a book lover.

Oh hay, I hit that Book Outlet and Audible set of sales, too. You were not the only one who snagged a stack. 😉

Hope you feel better for this week.

  7. Sometimes time away from the computer is the best thing! So sorry to hear about the carpal tunnel flare-ups.

I loved A Promise of Fire! Great choice there. I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a fabulous week, Carole. 🙂

    Check out my STS post!

  8. I am sorry to hear about your Carpal Tunnel flare-up and migraines. I feel for you, Carole. I am glad you are enjoying your new Kindle Voyage! I have a Paperwhite and a Fire. I really want to get another Nook tablet–I have three that are pretty well defunct now. My husband doesn't think I need another e-reader or tablet though. As you can see though, I understand your desire to collect Kindles even when it isn't really necessary. LOL

I hope the All State Band auditions went well. Hopefully it went well for your daughter.

Look at all those audiobooks! I used up all my credits on Audible and don't want to spend money on more right now. It's been hard not to though with all the great deals. It takes me a while to get through an audiobook and I have so many already . . . I say that about e-books and physical books too, but that doesn't stop me from buying more though, does it? So, not a very good excuse. 😉

I hope you have a great week, Carole, and feel better!

    • I am so glad that my husband seems to understand that it is just better to go along with my device (and book) hoarding tendencies. I have to admit that I kind of want a Nook but I keep talking myself out of it.

  9. oh my look at all of those audio books here!!! You really went on a spree. I am very curious about Magic Binds, I just adore me some Curran and Kate. I really liked Dirty and a Promise Of Fire. So dang good. Hope you enjoy all of these. I do like Outlander though, haven't read the books. But they have done a superb job with the tv show. And Jamie is exactly how I imagine highlanders to look.

  10. That's a lot of books you have going there! I especially like the look of A Man Called Ove. I haven't read it myself but I have read his other novel and I really enjoyed that one. Great haul!
