Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks.

This week’s neglected book

Food: A Love Story by Jim Gaffigan

Publication Date: September 22, 2015
Publisher: Three Rivers Press

Have you ever finished a meal that tasted horrible but not noticed until the last bite?

Eaten in your car so you wouldn’t have to share with your children? Gotten hungry while watching a dog food commercial? Does the presence of green vegetables make you angry?

If you answered yes to any of the following questions, you are pretty pathetic, but you are not alone. Feast along with America’s favorite food comedian, bestselling author, and male supermodel Jim Gaffigan as he digs into his specialty: stuffing his face. Food: A Love Story is an in-depth, thoroughly uninformed look at everything from health food to things that people actually enjoy eating.

Why did I add Food: A Love Story to my bookshelf?
I thought that this book would be an appropriate choice for a Thanksgiving post.  Surprisingly, there aren’t a lot of Thanksgiving books out there and none that I could find on my shelf but I think this fits.  I have had this book on my shelf since January 2016.  I actually received this book from Blogging for Books.  I requested the book but it never showed up at my house.  After quite a few back and forth emails, they got the book to me but deleted my request and told me that no review would be necessary.  Of course, that meant that it fell off my radar.  It does look like a fun read and there are even some photos that add to the charm so maybe I will work it in some time in the near future.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. Haha! Yes, a foodie book on Thanksgiving is a great match. I'm with Chuckles on how weird that they waived the review. I could see saying 'take your time', but not to want one at all for a review site is different. 🙂

Have fun with this one, Carole! Happy Thanksgiving!

    • I miss Blogging for Books. I got a lot of teen books. I like YA (and most anything else) but I really liked getting YA books from the site so that my daughter could read them when I finished. She prefers print books so it worked out perfectly.
