November 2018 Monthly Wrap-Up

November 2018

And just like that, we are going to be turning the calendars over to December!  Time is really flying by this year.  This was a strange November that had winter showing up early without much of a welcome.  There have been a few nicer days but the overall trend has been very cold with even some snow.

We were very busy this month even though marching band came to an end.  I can barely keep with my high school senior.  My daughter and I have been working very hard on scholarship applications this month since some of the deadlines are December 1st.  She has been very busy writing essays while I have been given the job of the proofreader.  I will be so glad when all of this college stuff is done and decisions have been made.

My reading totals for the month of November are deceptively high since I read a lot of really short pieces.  I participated in the HoHoHo Readathon from November 9-18 and focused mostly on shorter works.  I also listened to a couple of quick audiobooks outside of the challenge.  I enjoyed almost all of the books that I read with the exception of one book that I couldn’t finish so I think it was a good month overall.

I am linking this post to the Monthly Wrap-Up at Feed Your Fiction Addiction.

  1. I nod my head with the November snow being unwelcome, and it caused such a mess in NJ. I am always jealous of your EW stats. I am really bad there, because I don't have the number in my face like on NG (where I am 85% and feeling good). You get a mom award for all the application help. I just let my kid take care of it, and gave her my credit card when she needed to pay. (I'm a bad mom).

    • You are not a bad mom. Really, my daughter is doing most of the work. I am the proofreader and tend to keep asking her where things are. She is just turning these things in for so many schools that it is hard to keep track of.

  2. Wow, such great totals and it looks like you read a lot of good books. I don't even remember my college essay. Time flies! Have a great weekend Carole!

  3. It sure has been colder and wintry this month when usually we don't get this until late December. Yay for making it through band and almost through scholarship apps. You knocked out a nice pile there even if they were novellas. I want to read that Ani Gonzalez and Courtney Milan. Your challenge and reading stats are really good.

    Have a great December, Carole!

  4. I agree about the weather. Today is nicer but rain is headed my way so I need to get out and do some raking shortly. Also, it IS so much easier when all is complete and the decisions are made.

You're doing so well with your reading, way ahead on Goodreads. When I set my goal I think how many books can I read a week – 2? But I've read much more this year because of audio.

I'm also reading Nightchaser. I'm interested to see about this new series. Anne – Books of My Heart

  5. I loved Diamond Fire! Hope you did, too, Carole. It's a lot of work trying to get scholarships. Thank goodness my husband helped my daughter a lot with that. I can never get my reading above 80% with Netgalley. It seems just when I clear out a bunch of books I acquire more, lol. 🙂

  6. Hopefully once all the scholarship applications, interviews and auditions are submitted things will settle down for you and your daughter. That's nice that you're helping your daughter will it all.

Carole you had a great reading month 🙂 I was actually surprised ow fast November went by, I hope you have a great December.

  7. Reading is reading, even when they are shorter books 😉 I can imagine that all those deadlines and applications were a lot of work. I remember when I had to do it for university too. Ooh, winter already DD: Hope you have a good December, Carole <3
