Stacking the Shelves #150

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Is everyone ready for Christmas?  I don’t really do all that much for Christmas but I am really looking forward to a little bit of extra time just to be home with my family, my pups, and a good book or two.  I hope that everyone reading this has a wonderful holiday!

This was a quieter week which I needed.  Since my daughter is now on break, I think that the next couple of weeks should be pretty calm and I am not complaining.  Work wasn’t quite a stressful this past week but we were really busy which was rather surprising.  My youngest daughter received some good news regarding a scholarship and my oldest daughter got straight A’s this semester on her college courses this week which were both pretty exciting events.  It looks like my husband and I are well on our way to an empty nest.

Books Added

Now or Never by Victoria Denault (NetGalley)
Stray Moon by Kelly Meding (Edelweiss)
Protect the Prince by Jennifer Estep (Edelweiss)
How to Save an Undead Life by Hailey Edwards (Kindle Freebie)
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (Audible Purchase)
Instauration by Sarah Lyons Fleming (Author)

I downloaded Now or Never from NetGalley just as soon as I saw it listed since I enjoyed some of the previous books in the series so I am looking forward to this one as well.  I loved Stray Magic and cannot wait to start reading Stray MoonProtect the Prince is yet another sequel that I am really excited about.  I have had How to Save an Undead Life on my wishlist for a while so I was thrilled to see it offered for free for Kindle.   I just couldn’t resist The Kiss Quotient when it went on sale for $3.95 this week at Audible.  I also received an Audible copy of Instauration from the author for review.  I have already read Instauration and loved it and am having a good time revisiting the story in audio.

I added several review books this week.  I am really trying not to add too many review books anymore so this is a pretty big haul but these are all books that I am really excited about.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Congrats on the good news re: scholarships and grades! And hope you have nice relaxing holiday! It looks to be a fairly quiet one around here too and I'm looking forward to it.

I've only read one book by Kelly Meding but I enjoyed it and hope to read more of her stuff soon.

  2. I'm glad you'll be enjoying more of a rest over the next couple of weeks-if anyone deserves it you do! Enjoy the rest! We don't do anything at Christmas other than the big food pig out!

  3. Wow!! Sounds like a really good week! Glad things calmed down for you! And congrats to your kids on getting good grades!! That's awesome!

And yay for new reads! Seeing lots of Protect the Prince! I was just approved for that last night, so I am SUPER excited for it! Hope you enjoy all your new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. So glad this past week was a huge improvement on the one before it. Yay for grades and scholarship and yay for a fun stack of books to keep you busy. I picked up a stack of review books, but they are for March so I can pretend that I was good this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I'm happy to see your daughters on a great path. Yay for quieter weeks with more reading. I also loved Stray Magic and Kill the Queen, but Edelweiss doesn't like me so I got denied for Stray Moon and Protect the Prince. I just spent some time updating my profile, maybe that will help a little. I'm excited to see how you like the Hailey Edwards series – I'm really enjoying it. They really start to pick up and improve from the 3rd book forward. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'm so glad I "met" you this year! Anne – Books of My Heart

  6. Congratulations to both your kids! Awesome news all around. I finished Now or Never this morning. It was really good. I am sad it's the end of the series, though I still have to read book 1, so I guess it's not the end for me.

  7. It's pretty much dead at the library so it's been a nice month of not running around. Protect the Prince looks so cool! I'll have to see what the first book is about. I haven't added any books this week but I'm sure I will this upcoming week thanks to Christmas (:

  8. Have fun with your family this week. My daughter and grandson are coming over for Christmas. Ken and I both have a cold but I'm still going to be cooking.

  9. I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family!! You deserve it. I just love spending time with family. It looks like you have some great books to enjoy for the day. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

  10. I received the copy of City of Brass I won from Goodreads and a physical ARC of The Last Romantics from the publisher. Other than that I have just scooped up some random 99ยข and freebie ebooks. ?

My son has two more semesters before he gets his BA, and he's been trying to decide if he wants to move out when he starts his graduate studies. I wish he would hurry up and make up his mind because I would like to move to a smalker, but nicer apartment, ha ha. We've been trying to get him through school with no student loans and him paying rent somewhere else hasn't made any sense.?

Congratulations on both the scholarship news, and the straight As! ???

    • My youngest definitely wants to go away to college. She has really focused on school during high school and has been offered some great scholarships so it is doable. My oldest is finally ready to get serious about school but has a long way to go. She is going to have to go somewhere local though.

  11. I am glad you were able to get that easy week that you needed! I am SO ready for Christmas. We pretty much don't celebrate anything a lot except Christmas, so it's the biggest ordeal for us. And The Kiss Quotient is high on my wishlist. I hope you love it ๐Ÿ˜€
