Stacking the Shelves #204

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Well, life has returned to normal.  This was the first full week since my daughter went back to college and my husband and I are getting back to our empty nest routines.  I got myself back to the gym 3 times this week and really want to keep the trend going.

On Friday, an ice storm was predicted in our area.  I got to work at my normal 8:00 start and at 9:00 I was told I could go home.  I had a few things to finish up but I was able to leave around 9:30.  I don’t think that the weather was as bad as they predicted it would be but I enjoyed having an unplanned day to be home with the dogs.

On Saturday, we picked up the bookshelf that I ordered a couple of months ago.  Isn’t it pretty?  This thing is solid wood and really sturdy.  It is 48″ across and 84″ high.  I had a hard time helping my husband get it the house.  It is big and heavy and I was sore from my time at the gym but we were able to get it in place.  I cannot wait to get it filled up with some of my favorite books!

How was your week?

Books Added
My Book Outlet order from Boxing Day showed up this week.  Too many books here to list individually but I was able to get books written by Anne Bishop, Joanna Schaffhausen, Sarah J. Maas, Brigid Kemmerer, Margaret Rogerson, Kevin Hearne, Katherine Arden, Laurell K. Hamilton, James Grippando, Susan Dennard, and Darynda Jones.  I have already read a few of these books but it should take me a while to get through the rest.

The Boy from the Woods by Harlan Coben (NetGalley)
Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas (Edelweiss)
How to Love Your Elf by Kerrelyn Sparks (NetGalley)

I also received my January Owlcrate.  This month’s theme is Vengence Will be Mine.  I am not going to share any spoilers just yet but I was very happy with all of the goodies in this box.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. ahhh, I know the feeling of filling a new shelf (because I also just had a new one!). Also, it has 7 levels! That's just fantastic!! I've been considering Susan Dennard's Truth Witch series but maybe I'll get to it when all the books are out.

  2. Your shelf is lovely! I hope you have the best time filling it. And, wow! Your job is nice. Mine would never send us home. They even make us come in, when the governor declares a state of emergency.

  3. Hurrah for an empty bookcase! It's always so much fun deciding what to put in it! I love sorting books into a new one and getting everything just right!

  4. I am loving your new bookcase! I'm going to need to find myself a new provider as the place where I bought my other really nice bookcases went out of business. I was sadden by this as they were a small business kind of place that had been around since I was a kid! Them going out of business devastated me since I had wanted to get more bookcases once I had my own space. You'll have to tell me about this company though so I can start my early shopping around! Lol!

Nice new reads! I was super excited with this month's Owl Crate book! I hadn't had the book on my radar until someone told me what book was going to be in it this month and I was like whoa! I can't wait to read it!

I hope you enjoy all of your lovely new reads!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    • I bet you are talking about Piper's. I bought a lot of different items from them and was very sad when they went out of business. I have a tall bookcase that I got from them at their going out of business sale but it only has 6 shelves. I am liking the 7 shelves on this bookcase. I bought this bookcase at Mary Jane's Solid Oak Furniture in Edwardsville, IL. They didn't have exactly what I wanted but they were able to order it for me and I am thrilled. It was worth the bit of a drive.

I am also looking forward to reading the Owl Crate book!

  5. Oh what a lovely bookshelf. You really got some great books from the outlet too! It's always nice to have unplanned free time. I'm getting closer to the projects completion so I can just enjoy my home for a bit. Have an amazing week, Carole!

  6. Yay for a part day off. Those are lovely shelves. Can't wait to see your books on them. I love your Boxing Day sale stack. I didn't do that sale this year because I went a bit crazy with their Black Friday sale, but man they have some great deals. πŸ™‚ Happy reading, Carole!

  7. Great job going to the gym and those bookshelves are gorgeous! You're going to have so much fun getting books arranged in them. Your Book Outlet order looks so fun! I'm on a bit of a no-buy right now but I'm looking forward to doing a big book shopping binge! Have a great week!

  8. It's nice that you were able to get out early like that. We were expecting an ice storm too and while we did get some, it was mostly snow and wasn't too bad. Not fun but not horrible lol.

Beautiful bookshelf! And nice stack of books too- happy reading!!

  9. Yay for an unpredicted day home and being able to get back to the gym and into routine again. That's a good thing. And yay for a brand new bookshelf. It looks beautiful and will look good with all those new books. I hope you will love A Curse so Dark and Lonely just as much as I did!!

  10. Man, you got some awesome books and that bookshelf is great and I think won't be empty for long. πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

  11. Love the new bookshelves, and you got some great books to fill them! I'm trying to get back on my workout schedule, too. Good for you hitting the gym 3 times last week.

I'm dying to read Chasing Cassandra! The series is wonderful. Hope we both love it. πŸ™‚

  12. That's quite a bookcase! Ours are all the cheap Ikea "Billy" bookcases, but they look a bit more classy because we got glass doors for them (to stop our rabbits being able to climb on the shelves and nibble the books!).

I've been meaning to try Lisa Kleypas' work, I've got one on my TBR from the library!

  13. Love your new bookcase, and solid wood is fabulous, I do like that the shelves wouldn't bow due to the weight of the books. I also have The Witchlands series on my list to read, enjoy all your new reads.

  14. Beautiful shelves! we have another snow day today and I am hoping for one tomorrow too but I don't think we will be that lucky. I would love to try OwlCrate in the future, but I am hesitant because I am pretty picky about my YA. How long have you had it? Do you find that overall there are more good books than duds?
