On Monday, a gunman went into the local community center and killed a woman. A police officer was outside the building and responded immediately which kept the man from harming anyone else. There were a lot of people in the community center at the time so it could have been even worse than it was. I don’t use that community center’s gym but do use the one in the next town, which offered their facilities to members of the one with the incident until it could be re-opened. I am giving myself a pass for skipping the gym this week but I did get there yesterday so I am going to try to get back on track.
I just can’t understand why these things keep happening.
On Thursday, I went to a book event for Tricia Levenseller and Meredith Tate at one of the local libraries. I almost talked myself out of going but I had a really good time so I am glad that I went. Jessica from a GREAT read was there and it was nice to chat with her for a bit.
How was your week?

It's so sad that every dispute seems to be solved by a weapon. Over here we don't have the gun issue but knife crime is high in the cities. It makes me want to stay indoors forever and read and watch Tv and have everything I need delivered!
That's awful what happened. Glad you weren't anywhere near there when it occurred.
So scary to see a shooting happen so close to you!! I really suspect these are happening so often because of the changes in society. This is why I have a firearm, bear spray and a taser lol its a dangerous world with crazies who have no regard for human life. STAY SAFE Carole!!
Hope you enjoy the books you added to your shelf!!
It's such a scary world out there. I'm glad you're safe, Carole.
I added a bunch of books to my TBR, but the most exciting ARC approval I got was for Annabeth Albert's Burn Zone. That's one of my favorite authors!
St. Louis is in crazy times these days. I'm still shocked with what happened just a minute or two's drive from where I live. Scary.
It was so fun chatting with you at the signing! I'm already looking forward to this week's! Still debating if I should grab a quick dinner along the way or bring a sandwich from home to get there plenty early! Lol.
Here's my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Shootings are scary. A gun went off at a Walmart near my house. When the shot went off, a bunch of stupid redneck shoppers pulled out their guns and started running around. The cops couldn’t find the shooter. It was just chaos. Why does EVERYONE need to bring their gun to Walmart?
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Oh no, that's terrible. I seriously think that things like this keep happening because there's not enough help for those with mental illness.

yes and overall the angry white men who resort to mass shootings aren't the sort to admit they need help even if it was easily available.

Oh no, that is so sad
I love how events like the one at the library are so awesome and they allow us to connect with people. It's hard to get yourself to go but worth it in the end. Have a wonderful, relaxed normal week with some great reads!

I'm so sorry to hear about the shooting at the community center. Even if it's not a place you regularly go it's still unsettling. Glad that other then that the week was a nice relaxed week! Enjoy your books and have a great week!
Yikes! That would be traumatic and I don't blame you for needing some time away from the gym for a bit. Fun library event!
Have a good week, Carole!
Oh my goodness, how horrible! 🙁 Perfectly understandable you'd want to take a gym break. I'm glad you had fun at the library event.
Oh my gosh how awful. It is shocking when something like that happens, and especially so when it's so close to home. I'm glad no one else was hurt but that loss of life- so tragic and senseless. I don't understand why this keeps happening either…
The book event sounds great though.
We had a mass shooting, thirteen people, at our civic center about twelve years ago. I used to go to the garlic festival and the many lands Christmas market every year, but I have been in the building since. I can understand your reluctance. ?
Happy to hear you decided to go to the book event! I have never met any other bloggers in person yet. Have you met more than Jessica? ☺
Have s wonderful week! ?
That’s horrible about the shooting. I’m glad there was a police presence and it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. And the library event sounds like a lot of fun! I sometimes have to pep talk myself into attending things like that but I’m almost always glad I went.
It's always shocking to me when someone goes out shooting! Unfortunately, I think the attention in the press gives people ideas, like it's an option when you're hurt and upset. *shakes head* Stay safe, Carole!
Glad to hear you at least had a nice time at the library event.
That's so horrible about the shooting. It seems you can't turn on the news without something like that happening. Glad you decided to go to the event and it seems like you had a really good time. Hope you have a wonderful week!
I am so happy that the policeman was there and responded so quickly to the gunman. But sorry that a single life had to be lost because of it. These stories always break my heart, and yet they keep happening 🙁
