Stacking the Shelves #210

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I apologize for my absence this week.  I work in an office staring at a computer 8 hours a day and there are some days that I just cannot look at a computer anymore when I get home.  This was one of those weeks for me and I had a lot of eye strain by the end of my workday.   I felt like I needed a break so I took one.  I hope to get around to visit everyone today.

Otherwise, it was a pretty quiet week.  We went to the gym a few times and explored the neighborhood a bit with the dogs.  We walk them every day but they were very excited to get to take a different route.  I was able to do some reading which was great.  Warmer temperatures have shown up this week and I couldn’t be happier!  I am sure we will see some cold weather yet this year but I will take every spring-like day I can.

How was your week?

Books Added

  1. For the first time ever, spring can't come soon enough for me. All these winter storms are getting me down and there is this coronavirus thing hanging like a big dirty cloud and nobody knows what impact it will bring. Yes the last thing you'll feel like doing is blogging after hard days at work in front of a screen. Look after your health first and we'll still be here!

  2. I know what you mean about being too drained for blogging/visiting. Sometimes once I leave the office I am just *done.* I enjoyed Great and Precious Things. It wasn't quite as much of a tearjerker as I thought it would be, but still really, really good.

  3. The only problem with me and spring is the storms that it brings. It always sends my anxiety soaring. You'd think I'd be used it by now living in the Midwest, but I am not. Every spring I swear my anxiety levels are higher than what's healthy and doesn't really settle down until June. Then it's misery until summer ends in October! Lol. So yeah…I basically hate our weather.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. It's good to go out exploring, and YES! I was so excited with the bit of warmth we enjoyed this week. We did have a drastic temperature drop after that, but I can still feel that warmth.

  5. I hope your eye strain is getting better. sometimes you just need a break from blogging. I've taken breaks before and liked it better when I came back.

  6. I took Lulu to two new places last week. This week the weather is warming up to more spring like temps here too. I took a break from house stuff and just did more reading this week. I also ordered some bluelight glasses to help me when I am working on the computer.

I hope you have a really great week with more spring weather!

  7. No worries about needing to tap out on blog visits and posts for a bit. I don't have to work with computers as much anymore, but when I did, I know I wouldn't have been able to come home and do it. I tried it for about a year doing two jobs that involved lots of computer time and was glad to give up the second one. Fun that you can get out on walks with your dogs in the fresh air. I've been able to get out for several walks this week plus air the house out and its great.
Enjoy your books and have a good week, Carole!

  8. All that time staring at screens is tough on the eyes and that makes everything just so difficult. I think getting outside enjoying the warmer weather sounds like the best thing to do! Have a great week!

  9. I can understand wanting some time away from the computer….it can be such a strain. Its why I always put my computer in night mode, helps a lot …at least for me.

Hope you have a wonderful week and get some time in the sunshine.

  10. Oooh! The Only Good Indians is one I've definitely had my eye on lately. I hope you enjoy both your new reads. I totally understand needing time away. I've been right there with you lately.

  11. Bea

I'm not familiar with either of those books but I hope you enjoy them. This week is supposed to be in the 60s, which I'm happy about. The pollen has already started, which my sinuses are not happy about. Ah well. Have a good week!

  12. No worries about the blog visits. I actually never open my laptop when I get home. I'm generally tired when I get home from work so I just lay back have dinner and read when I get home.
I'm sure we live continents apart but the drop of temperature here in my place was intense. We don't have Spring here so Summer it is (Summer is March to May here in my place). Hot days are coming.

    Hope you'll have a great week ahead,Carole!

  13. I can't wait to read The Only Good Indians. I have an arc and am really excited. Isn't it amazing how just changing the walking path slightly can make the dogs thrilled? I love taking different routes with mine.

  14. I like spring if it didn't come with Storms. 🙁 I think the rest of the month here is just almost nothing but rain and I am so sick of rain. I do like warmer temps though! 🙂 Enjoy your reads!

  15. I understand 100%! I was not around much for the last week either. We had parent/teacher conferences and so I was at school until 8 a couple nights. After that I just wanted to come home, snuggle Eleanor, and go to bed! Blogging breaks are healthy, no use forcing yourself to do something, you end up resenting it!

  16. Oh yes, eye strain is a serious deal and do take those breaks from a computer after long days of work to protect your eyes! I am glad you had a calm and quite week with some warmer weather. We need some peace sometimes too ^.^
