The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Publication Date: January 2, 2018
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
By #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, the first book in a stunning new series about a mortal girl who finds herself caught in a web of royal faerie intrigue.
Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book? Would you recommend it to others?
I've seen many mixed reviews on this one, I personally thought it was just okay… but that didn't stop me from purchasing the other two books. I just need to get around to reading them. It's wonderful that you have all three when you do decide to read it, that way you don't have to wait for the next book. π
All the reviews I see for these books seem to be good. I often find myself forgetting to finish series. I think that's why I don't really start any new ones these days.
I really need to try
You've got that one covered with the editions no matter whether you lean more toward print or audio. π I've done that with one or two books or sets.
I've seen some rave reviews on this series.
I havenβt read these books yet….but I know others who have loved these books
Well you're ready to go no matter which format you feel like reading. π I'm not really a fantasy reader but I loved this trilogy. All three books had me totally hooked. I hope you'll love it, too!

You are indeed committed, lol. I hope you'll enjoy it when you finally read it.
Definitely committed! This is an author I've seen around and while her books aren't usually in my genre her covers are always so eye catching!
Well it's more YA so it's not for me BUT I've seen great reviews for the trilogy. I would recommend you plan to read it in May as part of the series in a month at Because Reading.

Do not read it π
I can't say much as I was never a fan of this author! I don't think I read this one though so I hope you enjoy the trilogy!
I have this one on my TBR pile too. I have yet to read anything by Holly Black, but I definitely plan to!
I have been seeing so many people reading and loving the series and I am still in two minds about whether or not I should try it! If you do I hope you like it x
Every one I know who loves Holly Black says I won't like her, so I've never read any. ?
