Stacking the Shelves #224

Posted September 6, 2020 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 14 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I can’t believe that it has been almost 3 months since my last Stacking the Shelves post!  Things have finally calmed down now that the old house is under contract.  We do still have a few projects to complete to make the city inspectors happy and should get the results of the buyer’s inspections sometime next week.

We have been going non-stop for so long that it is hard to get back to our new normal.  There were quite a few things that we needed to address at our new house and it feels good to get a chance to work on those tasks.  I love all of the beautiful landscaping at our new house but I am finding just how much work the upkeep is!

I am not reading as much as I would like.  I am falling asleep anytime I sit still for a bit.  I seem to be able to read in the mornings and am having luck with audiobooks again so I am sure I will find my old groove again soon.

What I’m Reading
I am trying really hard to get back to reading.  I have had a hard time focusing over the summer but I think I am finally able to concentrate on books a bit more.  This week I finished two audiobooks: Scoring Off the Ice by Stacey Lynn was a great hockey romance and Blind Faith by Rebecca Zanetti was an enjoyable installment in the Sin Brothers series.

I am currently working my way through Betty by Tiffany McDaniel.  I am really enjoying it and hope to make some real progress with it before the end of this holiday weekend.

Books Added

Betty by Tiffany McDaniel (BOTM)
Winter Counts by David Heska Wanbli Weiden (BOTM)
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (BOTM)
The Companion by Katie Alender – Bookish First

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Glad things are going well with the houses and whatnot. I can imagine how stressful and time consuming moving is. Happy to see you back in the blogosphere as well! I figured the moving situation was eating up a lot of time! I hope you're settled in nicely at your new home!

Nice new reads! They are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here's my StS

  2. Glad things are slowing down a bit for you. Now you can sit back and enjoy your new home. I was eyeing that Stacey Lynn book. I am always down for a good hockey romance, but I was unfamiliar with her. I have to get my hands on the audio.

  3. So glad to have you back! But I moved last summer so I know how it goes. I was renting though so I didn't have to fix the place up, only clean, and then I could focus on the new place. I still listen to a lot of audiobooks while doing chores and yardwork. I listened while I mowed the lawn yesterday. I hope you feel back in the habit again soon. Enjoy the long weekend!

  5. Man, three months is nothing! I left my blog for almost two years! Lol. Glad you are starting to have time to come back to it! And I feel like hockey romance can be a good starting place. I know I like reading sports romance books whenever I'm in a slump.

Hope you enjoy all your new books! Thanks for visiting Shell's Stories!

  6. It must feel great to finally have the time to give your new house some attention. I'm sure it's been a hectic and exhausting three months. Hooray for finally having some time to read!

  7. I'm glad that the end is in sight for the old house. I'm envious of you being able to fall asleep so quickly as I can't seem to buy more than two hours sleep a night at the moment!
