October Wrap Up

October 2020
Hopefully, October will be the end of all the crazy in my world.  We finally sold our former home on October 30.  There were a few moments that I wasn’t sure it was going to happen and more hoops to jump through than I could have imagined.  The stress was overwhelming at times.  I lost a lot of sleep and broke into hives at one point.  It felt really good to end the month on such a high point.
I decided to just start reading whatever books fit my mood at the time and it seems to be helping.  I am still reading less than I did before my life was taken over by the move but I am really enjoying what I am reading.  I am rating books higher and I believe that is because I am matching books to my mood instead of going by a schedule.  I am not going to stress over how many books I am reading as long as I am enjoying myself.

  1. I'm so glad the house headache is behind you and reading/listening to what is really catching your eye is a good way to get back into your usual reading habits. I see several in your stack that I really enjoyed, too. I still need to get my hands on the John Scalzi.

  2. sounds like you are getting back on track and i do the same thing when my book reading is in a slump or i don't feel like writing reviews, i read whatever hits me and rate them on goodreads.

    • Yes, the author says that the story is based on her mother's life but it is labeled fiction. After I finished the book, I took a look on the author's website and was happy to find photos of many of the people from the book.

  3. I am so glad you sold your house! Congratulations. What a relief that must be! I look forward to reading your thoughts on Russian Cage. I am excited about that one. I am glad you have been enjoying your reading despite everything you've been dealing with. I hope November will be a good month for you!

  4. I think reading what suits your mood is very appropriate this year. I'm selecting books more carefully for ARCs in that frame of mind. I'm so happy for you to be able to try some new non-moving activities for awhile.
