As a top draft pick from a family of hockey royalty, I'm under so much pressure that I’m losing my edge on the ice. I need something to snap my brain out of this self-destructive stress-loop. That’s where Indi Briscoe from my photography class comes in. She’s flirtatious and funny one moment, sweetly shy the next.

But she’s cagey. She has secrets. Also? She’s a virgin. Did I mention the pressure thing? Maybe I’m crazy for starting something with her. But we can’t seem to help ourselves...

Warning: this standalone novel contains heat, heart, familial expectations, extreme milkshakes, and a hamster with deep thoughts.

I had a fantastic time with this romance! It’s no secret that I have been a fan of the books that I have read that are set in the world of True North so I was eager to give this newest offering a try. Once I started listening, I was hooked and I couldn’t wait to see how things would work out for Indi and Hudson. This was the first time that I have read Kate Willoughby’s writing and I had a great time with it.

Indi and Hudson are both college students. Indi is pre-med and is incredibly serious about school. Hudson is one of the school’s star hockey players and is part of a family that has had professional hockey players in every generation. The pressure is on for both of these characters. They both end up in the same photography class and as partners on a class project. These two have fantastic chemistry with each other from the start and it seems to grow stronger each time they are anywhere near each other.

I really liked Indi and Hudson as a couple. I think that they had a lot in common and seemed to be very good for each other. I really enjoyed watching them grow closer as the story progressed. Indi did have a couple of secrets but I understood why she was hesitant to share them with Hudson right away. Both characters have some pretty big issues to deal with and challenges to overcome which helped them to see how important they were to each other.

Joe Arden and Victoria Mei did a fantastic job with the narration of this book. I think that both narrators were able to bring the characters to life and added a lot of emotion to the story. I thought that their voices really complimented each other. This was an audiobook that I wanted to listen to for hours at a time and the narrator added a lot to my overall enjoyment.

I would recommend this book to others. This was a wonderful romance with fantastic characters facing some pretty big challenges. I had a great time watching this pair move towards their happily ever after. I cannot wait to read more books in this series!

    • I have had a great time with the books in this series that I have read so far. They are set in the same area as the books in Sarina Bowen’s series but these all stand on their own.

  1. Somehow I have never read a hockey romance! I’m easing back into the romance genre with some rereading romantic suspense and this sounds like one I’d love!

    • It is funny that I read as many hockey romances as I do. I love sports but I tend to enjoy baseball and football. I like hockey but I have never followed it closely. This was a fun one!
