A heart-stopping adventure that defies time and space--New York Times bestselling author Marie Lu calls it "an incredibly intricate, brilliantly paced, masterfully written journey."

Farway Gaius McCarthy was born outside of time. The son of a time traveler from 2354 AD and a gladiator living in ancient Rome, Far's very existence defies the laws of nature. All he's ever wanted was to explore history for himself, but after failing his entrance exam into the government program, Far will have to settle for a position on the black market-captaining a time-traveling crew to steal valuables from the past. During a routine heist on the sinking Titanic, Far meets a mysterious girl named Eliot who always seems to be one step ahead of him. Eliot has secrets-big ones-that will affect Far's life from beginning to end. Armed with the knowledge that history is not as steady as it seems, she will lead Far and his team on a race through time to set things right before the clock runs out.

Why did I add Invictus to my bookshelf?

I downloaded this book from NetGalley back in July 2017 so it has been on my Kindle for about 4 years. I have no idea why I didn’t make this one a priority because it sounds really good. I have been working on getting some of those older books in my NetGalley account read and I noticed that my library has a copy of the audiobook for this one so I hope to work this one in sometime before the end of 2021.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. You know how this is going to start, since this is not a contemporary, but I have not read this. However, I remember the kid saying good things about it.

  2. That does sound good. I have an older one of hers languishing on my Kindle, too. Good idea to catch up on the old ones in audio.

  3. I remember when this came out and I seem to remember it had good reviews. I hope you love it! I have so many books lurking on my NetGalley shelf that I need to get to it’s just madness!
