I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I am so tired. There never seems to be enough time to do everything that I need to do. Or even the things that I was successfully doing just a few months ago. It’s frustrating. I feel like I spent the week trying to get things done but not getting anywhere. Oh well, this too shall pass.

I took off a little early on Tuesday to go with my daughter to open new bank accounts. Then we went to pick out a new pair of glasses for her. After that, we voted in a local election. I was beat by the time we got home. On Wednesday, we noticed that a tree close to the house had carpenter ants living in it and before we stopped to think about it we were cutting it down. We still don’t have all of the branches bundled for our yard waste pick-up day on Monday. I did do one fun thing this week. On Friday, I was able to go to a local book fair. I have really missed searching through tables of books I need for my collection. I only bought 23 books so I feel like I practiced some restraint. Maybe.

I think that I got to a good number of blogs this week but I was only able to do it once. It really seems that I have next to no time left at the end of the day to work on the blog or get any reading done. I get crabby when I don’t get time to read so I hope something changes soon.

What I’m Reading

I finished two books this week. I finished listening to Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane last Sunday while cleaning the house and really enjoyed the re-read. I spent most of the workweek listening to The Girl from the Savoy by Hazel Gaynor and I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either.

I am now 57% of the way through The Book of Accidents by Chuck Wendig. I am really liking it but I really wish I could speed up my reading to my usual levels

Books Added

The Origins of Iris by Beth Lewis (NetGalley); Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (NetGalley); Feral Creatures by Kira Jane Buxton (Publisher); Blind Tiger by Sandra Brown (Publisher)

  1. Sorry to hear things have been so hectic and busy lately. I hoe that changes soon and you feel like you have more time for the fun stuff. The book fair sounds fun! And only a true bookworm could say that 23 books was showing restraint. 🙂

  2. Your books look good!

I can related to feeling tired and running out of energy. My move was like that, with lots of energy as I pushed forward, and then, finally sinking onto my new sofa this week, exhausted, which helped stir up the energy again. So I went shopping for another little piece to make the living room feel complete.

I need to stop now, though. LOL

Enjoy your week, and I also would love to go to a book fair!

    Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. Yes, only 23 books. HA! You didn’t put them in your haul. What’d you get? I hope things slow down a bit for you so you can do more fun stuff.

    • I didn’t get around to taking a photo of my new stack. I plan to post it next week. I mostly grabbed some older hardcovers that looked interesting or authors that I know that I love.

  4. Sounds like a bit of chaos. I went to the book fair too. Sadly I didn’t see anything I needed, but then I’m particular about my books and didn’t really care for all the library markings. Definitely plan to go the St. Louis one next week and hopefully find some treasures! What was sad for me about the library one was where I saw soooo many books already in my TBR pile, chastising me me for not having read them already! Lol.

Hope you enjoy all the new reads!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    • Yeah, I wasn’t really interested in any of the ex-library books that they had at the fair. The YA section was completely picked over but I found a few books in the Sci-Fi and mystery sections.

      • I went Friday night and the YA section was still pretty full but I didn’t really see anything. There was one book I almost picked up, it was a hardcover of a book I could only find in paperback, but all the library markings had me putting it back. I thought I’d try to at least take the plastic wrap off but when I saw it was stuck to the cover more than I thought I put it back. My parents ended up finding a big ol’ stack’s worth! They aren’t as picky about book appearance and whatnot. Lol.

Planning to hit the St. Louis fair next weekend though! Usually do a little better there since they’re more used books!

  5. i get crabby too when i can’t read. BUT i find it hard to put my kindle down. i am spending too much time reading, but it is so hot out that i can’t really do any yard work and who wants to clean house. lol i’m jealous of you and the book fair. i am finding it hard to hit blogs as much as i used to and comment. hope that passes…soon. have a good week and read a good book. 🙂

  6. Not having the energy for usual tasks has hit me a few times this summer, but this last time I was coming down with a cold so I guess that’s different. Good deal getting so many tasks done this week and fun that you got to hit a book fair. I haven’t been to one in ages.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  7. I think it’s the combination of mental and physical “blows” which make us so tired. After my issues this spring, I am just trying to get a bit more physical walking Lulu in addition to my PT exercises. Once I build up a bit more strength I will feel better I’m sure. But it’s too hot to do it daily, fall will be better. I hope this week gives you more breaks.

  8. Sorry to hear about how busy everything has been. I hope you get some time to rest and recharge and read soon! 23 books is definitely restraint. Thanks for the heads up that you didn’t love the Hazel Gaynor. That one is on my TBR and it sounds like I need to lower my expectations. Have a great week!

  9. oh yay you guys also had local elections too? Very cool. I adore book fairs, we really only have them for kids around in my area, but I adored them when I was younger. Hope it was a blast for you. Hope the upcoming week is a great one for you.

  10. The Book of Accidents is one that I want to read!

Sorry things have been pretty hectic. I’ve been feeling pretty worn out at night this past week or so as well, so it’s been tough getting things finished.
