I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

My commute was a little better this week because the backup from construction wasn’t as bad. It’s still a long drive. On Tuesday, I got to work and realized that I left my computer glasses at home so I had to fight traffic back home and then back to work. It has been a long time since I drove as much as I have been lately. I am not a fan of any of it.

On Thursday, I had a migraine come on suddenly in the middle of the workday. Looking at my computer seemed to be making it worse so I decided to take a half-day. After a couple of hours, I felt a lot better but I decided to stay off of screens for the rest of the day. It was actually kind of nice to curl up with a print book and I also did a few things in the yard.

On Saturday, we had planned to do more painting. We went to the hardware store and ended up leaving with new lights and ceiling tiles for the basement. We have a large finished area in our basement and the drop ceiling needed a lot of work. We hadn’t planned to start working on it this weekend but I am glad that we did. We are about halfway through now and plan to finish up today.

What I’m Reading

I only finished 3 books this week. Okay, it was really 2 books and a novella but I am counting it as 3. I finished The Huntress by Kate Quinn early in the week. I was so excited to be approved for the audiobook of A Spindle Splintered by Alix E. Harrow and decided to listen to it right away. It was fantastic! I loved Chasing the Boogeyman by Richard Chizmar and plan to post my review next week.

I have now read about 20% of The Origins of Iris by Beth Lewis and am looking forward to focusing on it this week. I had a really hard time settling on a new audiobook after finishing A Spindle Splintered this week but finally got hooked on Small Favor by Jim Butcher.

Books Added

The Helheim Princess by Tiana Warner (NetGalley); How to Survive a Modern-Day Fairy Tale by Elle Cruz (NetGalley); Such a Pretty Smile by Kristi Demeester (NetGalley); The Introvert’s Guide to Speed Dating by Emma Hart (Audiobook – NetGalley)

  1. I hate driving. I only do two miles to and from the train station, on off hours, and it’s enough for me. Way to go with the home renovations. Seems like you’re on a roll. I was eyeing Fairytale but I have too many review books right now. Looks good though, and I like that Hart series too.

  2. I don’t mind driving, and actually enjoy my (short) commute since I listen to my audiobook both ways, but dealing with construction traffic is no fun. Sorry to hear about the migraine. That’s miserable. 🙁

  3. Sorry to hear about the migraine. Those are never fun, but at least you were still able to read a print book! Bonus! Bummer that you had to go all the way back home for your glasses too. That stinks. I’ve been lucky in the past where if I forgot something at home, it wasn’t something I realllly needed. Though one time, I did forget something I absolutely needed, but my mom was able to drop it off for me since I was only 15-20 minutes from home, I didn’t have time to go back myself without being late for the day, so that was a plus! Lol

Nice new reads! Those are some new to me ones but I’m curious about A Spindle Splintered! I love fairy tale retellings. I hope you enjoy all of your new reads!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  4. Well at least you can listen to audio while driving? Although I think I remember you can listen at work sometimes too. I have bought Alix Harrow books but haven’t read them yet. Yay for projects making progress.

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

  5. Good that the traffic back up improved, but bummer about the migraine. Ha, funny about going in to get supplies for one home project and coming out with the goods for another. Bet it feels good to be getting that all worked on. Neat that you got through three books (totally counts as three since the first one was pretty long). 😉
    Fun Instagram book pic!

    Have a great week, Carole!

  6. oh no….migraines are the worst, it just takes so much out of you and you can’t concentrate on anything. I have been wanting to read Kate Quinn. Hope you enjoy your new reads.

  7. That is a lot of driving and how frustrating about the glasses! I’m not sure I would have been dedicated enough to go back for the day! I’m glad you were able to chase away the migraine. Those are awful. Have a great week!
