I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This was a good week but very different than I thought it would be. I was hoping to slow down a bit and get a little caught up with some things while I was off work for the week. My youngest daughter was also home from school and she brought just about every article of clothing that she owns home to be washed. Laundry is a chore that I don’t mind doing but it did take some time.

My birthday was Monday and I did get some reading done that day. I went out to eat for dinner with both of my daughters, my daughter’s boyfriend, and my husband. On Wednesday, I did some cooking for the items that I needed to bring to my mom’s house for Thanksgiving. We had a nice meal with just a few people for Thanksgiving.

The rest of the week was a blur. We did some shopping, completed a few puzzles, and walked the dogs about 100 times. Today, we are hosting my husband’s family for their Thanksgiving gathering. My husband is one of 6 kids so finding a space big enough for everyone is a challenge. My garage is heated so we decided to pull the cars out and set up some tables so we can all eat together. I am trying to decide if it is weird to host an event in my garage or not. Oh well, I just hope it goes well.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

Do you remember that I had plans to get a lot of reading done while I was on vacation this past week? Well, that isn’t what happened. I finished 1 book in 9 days. I did enjoy Owl and the Japanese Circus by Kristi Charish but I am disappointed that I didn’t get the chance to read more this past week.

I am still working on three books. If you count marking this as currently reading on Goodreads but not actually reading them working on them…lol. I am still at the 10% mark in The Sea King by C.L. Wilson because I didn’t pick it up at all this past week. I did listen to a bit of The Operator by Kim Harrison while doing some chores and am currently at 83% so I should be able to finish this one in the next couple of days. I have read exactly 2 chapters of Child of Mine by Karen Grey but am looking forward to really focusing on this one once my life returns to normal this week.

  1. Sounds like a busy week, Carole. Hopefully today’s gathering is low-key and not too stressful. Nice that the garage is heated! I saw it makes for a smart option to accommodate everyone! Your reading sounds like mine… it’s slowed down this past week to a snail’s pace.

Yikes! So sorry I missed your birthday, but glad you were able to have fun and spend time with family. Yay to the idea of doing dinner in the garage! Lots of room, saving money and the convenience sounds perfectly perfect! I’m going through a separation right now, so one of the things that’s better for me is definitely the laundry, which is much, much smaller these days. (lol) Here’s to more and more reading and some relaxation when you can. Hugs, RO

  3. Glad you had a great birthday and nice holiday! A Thanksgiving in a garage isn’t weird at all! You gotta make do with what room you have. We had about 16 people over for Thanksgiving, though 2 were babies and we managed to squeeze two fold-up tables in along with our bigger table. It made getting in and out of your seat difficult to fill your plate since we did a buffet style due to the lack of room, but we made it work. So I’m sure yours will be totally fine too! Plus heated garage, yay!

Nice new read! That’s a new to me one but I hope you enjoy it!

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. Looks like it was a fun yet crazy Thanksgiving week for you. I hope you get through The Sea King. I just had a blast with it. I do know she is working on Jaguar King now that she has returned to writing again.

  5. It always baffles me when I read less on my days off. What can I say, I need my routine. I hope you have a lovely gathering today, and you eat lots of wonderful food.

  6. While your week was busy, you took the time to enjoy family you may not be with as regularly. I don’t think it’s weird to host in your garage although I’ve seen it more often in the summer. I have struggled with reading everything I want to do and only seem to manage it as long as I keep enough audiobooks on hand, as I can do that while walking Lulu or unpacking or doing laundry or many other tasks. At least, that is my rationalization for all the audiobooks I have been buying . lol But generally they aren’t available at the library on audio if I buy them. Here’s to a more normal and routine week.

I just finished Child of Mine and have to thank you for introducing me to this author. I was 27 in 1989 so this series has been quite the trip down memory lane.

  8. Glad it was a great week even if it didn’t exactly go according to plan. I’m envious your garage was empty enough to host a party. LOL I didn’t get much reading done over the holiday and after, either.

    Have a great week, Carole!

  9. Your week sounds really good! And I have had events in a garage before…a detached one that I later remodeled into a guest house, LOL.

    Twenty Years Later looks good.

Enjoy your gatherings and your books.

  10. Happy birthday Carole! It’s crazy how fast vacation time goes and I find I rarely get all the relaxing I want in. The Kristi Carish series is calling me. I heard such great things about the first book when it came out but somehow never got around to reading it. Enjoy your reading and have a great week!
