I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
This week was a blur. Except for the hours spent at work which seemed to drag on forever. It seems that is how life goes these days. This week was busier than normal at our house. My husband celebrated his birthday on Monday and my oldest daughter turned 27 on Thursday (HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?). We met some family for dinner out Monday night to celebrate which was really nice. Plus I didn’t have to cook that night which is always a bonus!
My younger daughter went back to college on Friday. I spent a lot of time this week making sure the laundry stayed caught up and just making sure that she would be ready when it was time to go. I made an effort to spend some extra time with her in the evenings since it may be weeks or even months before we see her again.
I tried to keep up with reviews but I was otherwise horrible when it came to the blog this week. I just didn’t have a lot of time to sit down with my computer and blog hop for return comments. I can do Instagram on my phone so I can work that into my workday. Since I use my laptop to comment on blogs, I need time to actually sit down and do those things. Hopefully, I can get back to my routine now that we are truly past the holidays. Once again, thank you for hanging in there with me.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I was able to finish 3 books this week which was honestly a bit of a miracle. I spent much of Sunday reading Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead by Elle Cosimano and found this sequel to be just as much fun as the first book. I have been putting off starting the audiobook of The Outlaw Demon Wails by Kim Harrison for months because the narrator is different than the rest of the series. She wasn’t the worst narrator but I will be glad to get back to Marguerite Gavin for the rest of the series. I read most of The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain yesterday and absolutely loved it. How have not read her work before now?!?
I have listened to 27% of Deadly Silence by Rebecca Zanetti. This is a re-read for me but I honestly don’t remember anything from the first time I read this book. I haven’t started it just yet but by the time you are reading this post, I should have read just a bit of The Best Men by Sarina Bowen & Lauren Blakely. I have high hopes for this book!
Books Added
Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid (NetGalley); Crowbones by Anne Bishop (NetGalley)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
OMG OMG OMG CROWBONES!!!!
Hope your husband and daughter had nice birthdays! I feel like January is always one the hardest months, as we’re all trying to get back into a normal routine of some kind! It feels like the longest month to me because of this! Lol.
OOh nice!! I need to start the Finlay Donovan books! They totally look like my kind of read! I also got Crowbones this week and can’t wait to get back to this world! Hope you enjoy your new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Hope things slow down a bit for you. My kid is going to be 27 in less than a month, and I said the same thing you did. Glad to hear the Finlay sequel was good. I really liked book one.
No harm in spending time with your family this week, especially since you had birthdays to celebrate! I hope your daughter has a fantastic time back at school. I hope this means your laundry regimen gets to slow down a bit haha. That is one of my least favorite tasks!
I have been reading Diane Chamberlain since the settings are NC. She really delves into some issues and it is heartbreaking. Her storytelling is great. I hope you’ll get a bit of a break this week with things going back to more routine.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I know how you feel about time flying except when working. I only comment from a laptop too. It is just too hard to do from my phone or laptop. I love the Rebecca Zanetti and Kim Harrison books. I’m looking forward to the Anne Bishop one. I hope you enjoy.
My daughter is 30. I don’t know how that’s possible either. lol She makes me feel old.
Sounds like you did have a busy week! I have the same issue with blogging. For some reason I can’t comment on most Blogger sites with my phone. I have no idea why, but that leaves me to comment and blog on my laptop at home. I can do some stuff on Instagram depending on how busy I am at work, but I usually have more freedom with that, too.
I need to get a few more review books out of the way before I request Crowbones. But I’m so excited for it!
Happy birthday to your husband and daughter! I am glad you were able to get out for dinner together with family. I am so glad you enjoyed Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead. I look forward to reading it as well. I hope you have a good week, Carole! Enjoy your reading!
Sounds like a lot going on last week. I’ve been meaning to try something by Diane Chamberlain for so long. I can’t wait for The Best Men! I listened to the prequel novella this week and it was so great. 🙂
I do wish it was easier to comment on the phone for blogs, but yeah I always wait till I get home to do that. Although I have thought about getting a mini laptop that I can take to work and do it on my breaks at work. But I feel you on that one.
