I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
This week has made my heart hurt. I am so sick of hearing about all of these senseless mass killings. How are we okay in a country where people are targeted while buying groceries just because of the color of their skin and children are gunned down in their classroom while the police stand outside. Changes need to happen and the people in power don’t seem to want to actually do anything.
We did have a busier week than normal. On Monday, we had air-conditioning installed in a garage. Yes, I know normal people don’t usually air-condition their garages but my husband was pretty sure that he needed it to happen. Last year, he used a portable AC unit in the garage and the amount of electricity it used was insane (and expensive) so hopefully, it will save us money in the long run. My daughter who is living at home left for a music conference on Tuesday and my older daughter left on a trip on Thursday so we are having a quiet weekend at home.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I read 3 books this week. I started the week out reading Of Shadow & Stone by Michelle Muto and had a good time with it. I finished listening to A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrison and can’t wait to read more of the series. Carolina Moonset by Matt Goldman was my favorite read of the week and I had no problem getting lost in this amazing story.

I didn’t pick up The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz again this week. If I don’t read at least some of it in the coming week, I think it will be time to take it off of my currently reading list. I am close to finishing Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley and am enjoying it quite a bit. I am only a couple of chapters into The Change by Kirsten Miller but am eager to see what happens next.

Books Added

- The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik (Publisher)
- All the Blood We Share by Camilla Bruce (Publisher)
- Thank You for Listening by Julia Whelan (Publisher)

- Overkill by Sandra Brown (Publisher)
- Bad Girls Drink Blood by S.L. Choi (Author)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
I am all wtf, why can’t there be change?
Every time I hear about school shootings, I can’t believe people in the politics keep saying things like “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” and “teachers should get guns to protect children”. In what kind of world do we live in?!
I’m so glad I’m a teacher in The Netherlands, all though children bring knives to school and we have school-stabbings multiple times a week….
Makes me so sad.
I resisted the Whelan book for so long, but I LOVED her last book so much and the early reviews are good. I had to click. Hope it’s a hit for us both.
Yeah, this week was rough in terms of the world. Reading articles that are vastly similar to 10 years ago was heart sickening. I mean, to be a kid now and to have to be afraid to go to school…it’s insane! I’m just glad my sister is done with school for the year because who would have ever thought how dangerous it is to be teacher these days?
Oh! Are you going to the Scarlett St. Clair signing this week? I plan to! First real signing in ages and I am stoked!! Lol.
Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I am also disheartened by the number of mass shootings we have! Way more than any other rich country. Every time I hear a person defend gun rights, my blood turns cold. Don’t they get it?
Meanwhile, your books look good. I have pre-ordered The Latecomer, but now I’m worried. Is it the writing? I had trouble with one of that author’s other books.
Enjoy your week and that garage AC!
This week was terrible. Books were a great distraction.
I am sad and angry that the politicians just stall, fill their pockets and keep their power but don’t accomplish what is needed. The gaslighting is frustrating. I LOVED Carolina Moonset. I hope you are having a quiet and restful holiday weekend!

Yes! This world makes me so sad at times. I hope things will change up on your end of the world.
Have a great week and happy reading.
It was a bloody week, for sure. LOL, the A/C in the garage is something my father in law would do because he loves to tinker on stuff out in his garage. Hope both your gals have safe trips. I look forward to what you think about Carolina Moonset.
Have a good week and happy Memorial Day, Carole!
I know several families in the homeschool community who pulled their kids because of the violence in schools. It isn’t why we chose to homeschool but I can understand the reasoning. AC in the garage sounds amazing. My husband would absolutely love that! I hope you enjoyed your quiet weekend and are having a good week!
That Julia Whelan title seems to be popping up everywhere I look this week so maybe it’s a sign I’m supposed to read it. I’ll be interested to see what you think of.
