I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
This was a pretty normal week around my house. On Sunday, we spent the day traveling to my daughter’s college to see her recital. She is really a very talented musician. It has been very cold which is making our dog walks less pleasant. I had an appointment with the dentist after work on Wednesday which made that evening feel a little rushed but there was nothing else out of the ordinary.

I am on vacation this week. Woo hoo! I celebrated having some time off on Friday night by listening to an audiobook and starting a new puzzle like the party animal I am. I finished the 1,000-piece puzzle Saturday afternoon. I was impressed that both of the puzzles I checked out from the library on election day had all of their pieces. There is a slip of paper tucked into the puzzle that you are supposed to mark if any of the pieces are missing so I do think that they keep track of that. While I am off this week, I will be celebrating my birthday, doing a few things around the house, and getting ready for 2 Thanksgiving celebrations.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I finished 5 books and had 1 dnf this week. I absolutely loved The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec and can’t believe that I waited so long to read it. Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray was full of great characters, including a robot that I kind of fell in love with. I made it about a third of the way through Seeker by Arwyn Elys Dayton and realized that I was completely confused and rather disinterested. Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan was an emotional second-chance romance. Invictus by Ryan Graudin was a rather unique time-travel story. I finished off my week with Ice Storm by Tracy Goodwin and thought that the characters had great chemistry together.

I have listened to around 40% of Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett and am loving it so far. I have just started reading The Sweetheart Fix by Miranda Liasson but am liking the way the set up of the story.

Books Added

The Prisoner’s Ring by Kelley Armstrong (Publisher); All That Is Mine I Carry With Me by William Landay (Publisher); The Cuban Heiress by Chanel Cleeton (Publisher); The Angel Maker by Alex North (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
You made me cackle with your “party animal” comment. I party too, if you mean reading and doing sudoku. The fact that you can listen to any fantasy is a step above me. I struggle with listening to books with too many details to remember. That’s why I mostly listen to contemporaries. I hope you enjoy both your Thanksgiving celebrations, that your week off is amazing, and that you have the happiest birthday.
I am in awe that you got through 5 books in a week! I was just trying to find time to read this morning and realised I need to carve out more time to do so! (excpet it seems impossible sometimes!)
It’s colder here too. Thanks for sharing your photo. It’s exciting that you get the week off and can enjoy your holiday.

Yay for some Thanksgiving celebrating. Hope you have a fun time with all of your loved ones. Looks like you really had some great books this week. Love that the Kennedy Ryan was such a win for you.
Love a quiet week and so nice to see your daughter shine, right? Lol, I had to laugh at that party animal comment! I feel like I’m living my best life when I’m home enjoying whatever hobby strikes my fancy so I totally get you! I need to buy a puzzle table to sit on my dining table because it’s rough wood and doesn’t work well for puzzling. You’ve got me in the mood, Carole! When you said you checked out puzzles at the library I was wondering if it had all its pieces. Good that they keep track.
I passed on my BOTM this month because I didn’t see one that I would honestly sit down and read. Second month in a row. Love that picture of your library! I like that narrow shelf down the middle! Have a great week, Carole!
Glad you had a good week starting with your daughter’s recital and getting through a good stack of books and puzzles. Enjoy your time off and hope your Thanksgiving food prep goes well.
Have a good week, Carole!
It is cold here (though probably not as cold as it is where you are) and I’m not a fan. It’s definitely not making outside time with the dog pleasant! Have a very happy birthday, a wonderful week and a fantastic Thanksgiving!
Oh boy, a new one from Kelley Armstrong! And I have the ARC for the Landay book too; looking forward to it. I read Hester recently and quite liked it. And, Foundryside – that sounded familiar and sure enough, it’s on my TBR. I’ll be curious to hear if it continues to hold your interest. Sure sounds like we have similar book DNA! 🙂 Have a Happy Thanksgiving (twice!).
Reading through five books in a week. That must be your superpower.
Have a great week.
Good looking books. A shame about the DNF. I hope you have a lovely birthday and time off. I don’t think we can get puzzles at our libraries. I commend you for doing 1000 pieces. Anything more than a child’s puzzle and I’m done 😂 my partner likes to do puzzles, but with our 4 year old around puzzles are a thing of the past!
Have a great week!

Love your bookshelves!
Wohoo, vacay is always needed
Hope you had a great time off and enjoyed your birthday celebrations. Haven’t read any of the books you mentioned. It always amazes me how many books there are in the world.
