My Life

This was an interesting week. Early in the week, I received the Kindle Scribe that I pre-ordered. This thing is HUGE! I am really liking it so far. I think that I will use the notebook functions a lot more than I originally thought that I would. It will be really handy to keep my TBR list on my device and I love the feeling of crossing books off that list when I finish them.

My new Scribe beside my Oasis. It is a lot larger.

My husband and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary on Thursday. Celebrate is probably the wrong word since we just stayed home and ate a frozen pizza but it is nice to acknowledge that milestone. When I got home from work on Thursday, we discovered that we had no internet. So my usual plans of writing reviews and blog hopping went out the window and I put on my headphones and started working on a puzzle. It was kind of a nice forced break.

On Saturday, I got together with part of my family that lives on the other side of the state to celebrate Christmas. It was nice to see everyone and I got to hold my new great-niece. Today, my husband and I are driving to my daughter’s college to pick up most of her stuff. We will leave her with just enough items to fit her in her for her final week of the semester.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 6 books this week. I finished all four books I was working on last week plus 2 more. Curse of Shadows by A.K. Wilder was just as good as the first book in the series. Romancing My Love by Melissa Foster was a great romance to listen to at work. The Widowmaker by Hannah Morrissey was a very well-done mystery that kept me guessing until the end. I liked the second half of Priest by Sierra Simone more than the first and I am glad that I decided to finish it. I loved the main character, Maddie, in Maame by Jessica George and enjoyed how much her character grew over the course of the book. I decided to re-read Trouble in Mudbug by Jana DeLeon since I hope to tackle the rest of the series next year.

I started listening to Shorefall by Robert Jackson Bennett while I worked on a puzzle this week and am really enjoying it. I have just started The Last Outlaw by Rosanne Bittner and look forward to reading more of Jake and Miranda’s story.

Books Added

Bear with Me Now by Katie Shepard (Publisher); Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto (Publisher)

Book of the Month: Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cochrun; A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella; Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young; Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zavin

  1. Wow! You got so much reading done this week. My worry (sometimes) when I DNF is that the book gets better. Glad sticking with Priest worked out for you. Cheers to 23 years! Wonderful accomplishment. The Scribe is enormous. It is dazzling to read about, but I know I would not use any of those features. I am happy to hear you are enjoying it.

    • I’m rly curious about Priest, because I’ve heard many great things about it. The Kindle is MASSIVE, lol! I am a big Kindle fan. Usually takes me 5 years to say goodbye to my old little friend and get a new one, haha.

Have a great upcoming week 🙂

  2. Congrats on your anniversary! That’s an amazing milestone! And omg, the no internet thing about killed me when we were without for almost two weeks. I can easily get by with no TV but not being able to blog was the real killer. I’m hoping your presence today means all is well now? And nice new Kindle! I think I have the Voyage(r)? I was impressed with that one what with the page press function on the side. Since I don’t use that as much I haven’t needed to replace it yet, but wow, that Oasis is pretty cool looking!

Nice new reads too! Those are some new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. It looks like you had a great week. Happy Anniversary, sometimes it’s good to have a quiet night and just spend time together. LOVE how big the Kindle Scribe is in comparison to the Oasis. Mine is coming in today and I can’t wait haha How is the battery? Is it better than the oasis? I am really curious about how the note-taking works but I am excited to work with it.

I hope you love The Last Outlaw, its so so good! I will have to listen to that Melissa Foster.

  4. Happy 23rd, Carole! Milestones of that amount should definitely be cheered. A forced night off line and on hobbies sounds great. I do that once in a while just to recharge. Fun that you got with your distant relations and trust you’ll have a safe trip to pick up her stuff. Yay for finishing six books, too.
I snagged the Vera Wong book, too.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  5. Happy anniversary! We don’t usually do anything big either but it is nice to acknowledge it. I hate being offline but once I get used to it it is nice to take a break. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your reading!

  6. I love my Kindle Oasis because it’s like a paperwhite, a bit smaller in size, but carries more books. But to be able to take notes! Oh, that would be nice. I will have to look into the Kindle Scribe. But would it fit nicely in my purse like the Oasis does? I can squeeze in the Fire, but barely . . . Hmmm. Things to consider.

Happy Anniversary! We’ve celebrated many anniversaries similarly. I am glad your early Christmas with part of your family went well. We’re having my in-laws and mom over to our house for Christmas as is our tradition. I was kind of hoping my brother and his wife would make the trip down since they’ve yet to visit my mom since she moved down here over a year ago, but that’s not in the cards this year.

I hope you enjoy your reading, including your new books. I’m excited about Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers. Have a great week!
