My Life

This week was hard. Things started well on Monday. We took the day off to spend with our daughter who was home from college for a visit. We went out for lunch and then finished up our Christmas shopping with a trip to Barnes & Noble. She left yesterday and it may be summer before we see her again.

I started feeling bad on Tuesday. Not so bad that I felt justified in calling off of work to stay home but bad enough that I didn’t want to do anything. I coughed my way through shifts at both of my jobs on Tuesday. I only had to work my full-time job on Wednesday so I rested as much as possible in the evening. By Thursday, I was feeling pretty bad but I made it through shifts at both jobs. I did the same thing on Friday, doing shots of cough syrup during my breaks at the bookstore. I have had so many cough drops this week that the thought of more makes me ill.

I have tried to sleep as much as possible this week and am just trying to get through each day. The bookstore has been crazy busy. I guess everyone is getting books this year which is a good thing. I just picked the wrong week to catch a bug. I hope to jump back into blogging and make my rounds very soon.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I finished 3 books this week. I wrapped up the Charley Davidson series with Summoned to Thirteenth Grave by Darynda Jones and am satisfied with how things worked out. I promised a review of The Puzzle Master by Danielle Trussoni by the end of the year and realized that I was about to run out of time. I enjoyed the book quite a bit. I found myself thinking about the Downside Ghosts series which I loved when I first read it years ago and decided that a re-read of Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane was in order.

I have read just a few chapters of Sanctuary of the Shadow by Aurora Ascher and am eager to get back to it. I have listened to about a third of Unholy Magic by Stacia Kane and am enjoying it just as much as I did when I first read the book years ago.

  1. Oh no hope you feel better. I got the stomach flu 3 days ago but am feeling better now.
Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday.

  2. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I feel like so many are sick for Christmas. Half our family had the flu lol Wash the hands people hahahaha Hope you get to feeling better soon.

  3. Oh no! I hope you’re feeling better! Definitely not the week to catch a bug. I struggle getting through the holiday season and that’s without being sick or working two jobs! I hope you’ve gotten lots of rest and have had a much better week.
