A special three-in-one edition of Sally Beauman’s passionate and suspenseful Lovers and Liars Trilogy
In Lovers and Liars, just after New Year’s, four small parcels are delivered to Paris, Venice, New York, and London. Photojournalist Pascal Lamartine is sent a woman’s left-handed black leather glove. Reporter Gini Hunter receives a pair of handcuffs. They soon discover that the anonymous packages may be linked to a breaking sex scandal that could rock the world’s political stage. Who sent the packages, and why? As the dogged journalists delve into a sordid world of lies and deceit, call girls and secret trysts, Gini and Pascal rekindle their own passionate affair. The truth goes back farther than they imagine . . . to the other side of the world and a long-awaited revenge.
In Danger Zones, after a wild night of partying, one teenage girl is dead and another has vanished. Dashing journalist Rowland McGuire thinks he knows who the culprit is, but his colleague Lindsay Drummond uncovers a connection that blows the case into something much bigger. With an innocent life on the line and an enraged killer on the loose, a love affair blossoms and a menacing plot unravels. Master storyteller Sally Beauman delivers a gripping and seductive novel in which no secret is safe . . . and the human heart can be the most dangerous place of all.
And in Sextet, expertly weaving a cast of compelling characters with a moody, multilayered plot, Sally Beauman once again shows why she’s the reigning mistress of drama and suspense. Part mystery, part allegory, and part love story, Sextet reveals the yearnings and dangerous desires of the human heart as it hurtles to a stunning climax.
Why did I add The Lovers and Liars Trilogy to my bookshelf?
What was I thinking when I requested this book on NetGalley? I downloaded this book from NetGalley on November 13, 2013. Yes, I know that this was almost 11 years ago! This is the oldest book on my NetGalley shelf. It is also the most intimidating book on my shelf since it contains 1,930 pages. Yes, you read that right – this book has almost 2,000 pages! Honestly, there is a good chance that I will die with this book still haunting me from my NetGalley shelf and I am kind of okay with that but in a perfect world, I will get it read sometime soon.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book? Would you recommend it?
Well to be fair, it is 3 books all rolled in one! I look at the omnibuses I’ve bought in physical format and find them intimidating! I know I had one kindle book that was likely about 1,000 pages because it was 3 books rolled in one and it felt like it took forever to read since I never knew when a page break or chapter marker was in sight! lol. Take it one book at a time!
It’s 3 really long books! It may have to hang out for a bit longer.
Oh ouch! Guess they would all be really long if it’s almost 2000 total!
If it was short I’d just read it to be done but that long, maybe use the option I will not be reviewing this book? Otherwise, is there an audio version that can go much quicker with changing the speed and being able to multitask.
There is no benefit to using the will not be reviewing option. I have looked into doing the audio and the only way I could do it would be to buy (and listen to) 3 audiobooks that don’t seem to ever go on sale (and are 20+ hours long).
The good news is that I can still reach 100% since NetGalley rounds up with this book hanging out on my shelf. It’s not really hurting anything.
Wow. It is so long
Wow, and hear I thought the huge 800 page hard cover book I read was a long book. Dang, that’s a lot of pages. I like a long book if the book is good. I don’t have any old books on NetGalley because I only request 3 books at a time, read them, write the reviews before I request anymore. It would bother me way too much not to read a book I had requested. But I’m weird like that. lol
That page count made me quake. That’s like 400 pages each. Good luck!
The premise had me interested until I saw the page count. Wow! I can see why it’s gathering dust on your NetGalley shelf.
