I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
This week was kind of busy. I took my mom to the local animal shelter a couple of times and she adopted a new friend on Thursday. It has been more than 8 years since I last adopted a pet from the shelter and the process seemed to take a bit longer this time. I ended up missing a few hours of work and hope to spend some time catching up on paperwork today.
Saturday night, my sister, her husband, and their 2 kids came over to visit and swim. (The kids swam while the adults talked) My eyes have bothered me for much of the week so I have tried not to spend a ton of time looking at screens outside of my work hours so it seemed like the perfect week to tackle a puzzle. It took me a while but I finally completed the 1500-piece puzzle. On Sunday, we visited with my mom and she seems to be doing well with the new dog, a 4 year old Shih Tzu named Winnie.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I listened to 3 audiobooks this week. Blood Jade by Julia Vee and Ken Bebelle was an exciting follow-up to the first book in the series and I really appreciated that the book started with a summary of the first book’s events. Brilliant! While looking at my past-due NetGalley list, I decided to knock out one that I missed last year: When a Dragon Falls by Kerrelyn Sparks, and found it a solid addition to the series. I downloaded Zero Stars, Do Not Recommend by MJ Wassmer on a whim and dove in right away. It was a fun and sometimes zany story.

Fire and Bones by Kathy Reichs is still on my currently reading pile but I didn’t pick it up again this past week. Hopefully, that will change very soon. On Sunday, I started listening to I’ll Be Waiting by Kelley Armstrong while finishing a puzzle and flew through the first half of the book. There is a reason that Kelley Armstrong has become one of my favorite authors.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
I hope your mom and the pup are doing well. It’s always nice to have a new addition to the family. Glad you had a chance to enjoy time with family poolside.
Sounds like a good week for the most part! I hope your eyes are doing better. Not fun when it hurts to look at screens.
Nice new reads! I cannot wait to read Kelley’s newest supernatural thriller! That woman never ceases to amaze me with how much she publishes in a year! It’s crazy! Happy Reading!
A 1500 piece puzzle is impressive. I tend to stick with easier 500 piece puzzles when I build them. But my dad loved doing the really hard ones.
I hope you have an additional day off for the holiday. I can’t imagine completing a puzzle that size so quickly. Kelley Armstrong is so versatile; she’s amazing.

Good to hear the dog is doing well
And great books there
Sounds like you had a great time swimming with the family. I had to add Repeat After Me because I’m automatically drawn to books with tentacles on the cover though I can’t explain why. Glad you mom found a new friend. Winnie sounds sweet. Hope you’re having a wonderful week.
