From the New York Times bestselling author of the Dark Protectors series comes a sexy romantic suspense about a woman determined to solve her sister's murder and the only man she can trust with long-buried family secrets.

Revenge. It's the only thing that will help Anya Best sleep at night. The serial killer who murdered her sister is on the loose, and Anya will stop at nothing to put him behind bars -- even use herself as bait to lure him out of hiding. But she can't do this alone.

Private investigator Heath Jones's job is to bring bastards to justice. This time it's personal. He knew the Copper Killer's latest victim so when her sister asks for his help, he's all in. But when Anya uses the media to taunt the killer, she exposes Heath's identity, putting them both in jeopardy. Now, secrets buried long ago are coming to light and the forces determined to destroy him are watching Heath's every move, waiting to exact their own revenge. And they'll use anything and anyone to get to Heath.

After finishing my re-read of this first book in this series, I was eager to dive into the second book in the trilogy. I found this to be another entertaining story that hooked me quickly and held my interest until the very end. This is the second book in the Blood Brothers trilogy and I definitely feel that the trilogy should be read in order but I will take it a step further and say that it is really best to have read the Sin Brothers series before starting this trilogy since those characters play a part in the story. I am glad that I finally decided to give this book a try.

There is a killer on the loose and he has Anya in his sights. He has already killed her sister and he is not done. Anya makes a statement that taunts the killer and names Heath as her fiance. Heath and his brothers were hoping to stay hidden instead of being thrust into the spotlight. Heath and Anya join forces and they not only have to outwit the Cooper Killer but they also have to avoid Dr. Madison and her crew. The story had enough action and excitement to keep things moving and my interest level high.

I liked Anya and Heath and wanted to see things work out for them.  There were times that Anya seemed rather reckless but I thought that Heath was almost always able to get things on track. I liked them as a couple and thought that the emotion between them felt very genuine. I loved the scenes that featured the rest of the brothers and loved how they are always ready to back each other up.

Karen White did a fantastic job with the narration. I love the various voices that she used for the cast of characters. It was always very easy to determine who was talking. She has a very pleasant voice and I like the way she is able to add just the right about of emotion to her reading. I do believe that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

I would recommend this book to others. I had a fantastic time with this story and enjoyed seeing all the characters work together as a team. I cannot wait to read the final book in this trilogy.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and I purchased a copy of the audiobook.

  1. Terrific review! I love this trilogy and I think it is the first thing I read by Zanetti. I did read at least the first one before reading Sin Bros, maybe 2 of them. And I LOVED Sin Bros.

  2. Great review you have here of this one. I am also happy I read the Sin Brothers before this one as they are connected. When I look for some good suspense, I just know that Zanetti will deliver for me. But the Sin Brothers will probably be my favorites from her. Those were such an experience.

  3. I just listened to a book narrated by Karen White and really enjoyed it. I’ve got a couple of Audible credits and I’m trying to decide which Zanetti book I’m going to get. Not sure if I’m going to go with the first in this trilogy or the series.
