You can't escape the past . . .

Noni is desperate. Her infant niece has been kidnapped, and the only person who can save her is a private detective with too many secrets to count -- and more enemies than he can name. A man who walked away from Noni without any warning a year ago, a man who broke her heart. But with Talia's life on the line, Noni needs his help now more than ever -- and this time, she won't take no for an answer . . .

The moment Denver Jones sees Noni, the memories come rushing back. The fire in her eyes. The determination in her voice. The danger of having her in his life. Denver had to push her away once, but now with vicious criminals threatening Noni and her niece, he'll do whatever it takes to protect them. But enemies from his past are circling, and they'll use anything -- and anyone -- to get to Denver.

I liked this book a lot! It was so nice to get Denver’s story and to finally get some resolution for the Blood Brothers series as well as the earlier Sin Brothers series. This is the third book in the Blood Brothers series which is a spin-off of the Sin Brothers series so I wouldn’t recommend reading this as a stand-alone if it can be avoided. I was hooked by this story very early on and was entertained until the story came to an end.

Noni is desperate to find the infant that she is responsible for now that the baby’s mother has died. She knows that her old boyfriend Denver could help so she puts his photo all over the internet in hopes of finding him. She doesn’t realize that Denver is trying to stay hidden so putting his photo online may not be the best idea. They do end up working together to get the baby back from her biological father that has less than savory ideas for her welfare. Once the baby is safe, Denver and his brothers will have their own past to deal with.

I liked Noni and Denver together. They had amazing chemistry together and I loved the fact that they were both very focused on doing whatever was necessary to keep the baby safe. We do learn a little more about Denver’s past and I loved that he was able to open up to Noni. It was great to see the brothers work together and I was thrilled to see them with the characters from the Sin Brothers series. There was plenty of action to keep things interesting and I thought that the book moved at a very nice pace.

Karen White did an amazing job with the narration. She has been the voice of the series and I think that she has done a wonderful job with bringing this cast of characters to life. I think that she adds just the right amount of emotion to the more tender scenes and makes the action feel just a bit more exciting. I definitely believe that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a very well-done romantic suspense story with characters that were easy to fall for and enough action to keep the pages turning. I cannot wait to read more of this talented author’s work in the future.

I received a review copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and I purchased a copy of the audiobook.

  1. I thought it was neat that this one tied into the Sins Brothers and wrapped up the Blood Brothers nicely. I’ll have to check out Karen White’s narration work if I ever do a re-read of these.

    • She is a great narrator! I am glad that I listened to both series in a short time span since they were so tied together.

  2. Karen White is one of my favorite narrators and I really want to read Rebecca Zanetti. I’ve been in a big romantic suspense mood lately and I’ve heard such great things her books.
