Meet the intense and sexy bad boy bikers of the Chaos Motorcycle Club in Carissa and Joker's story from Kristen Ashley's New York Times bestselling series.

The ride of her life . . .
Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy---until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa's pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.

Climb on and hold tight . . .
In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he's the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa's acting, it's clear she's falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker's secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa---or ride away forever . . .

I enjoyed this book! This is the first time that I have read any of Kristen Ashley’s work but it will not be my last. I really cannot believe that I waited so long to read her work. This book is a part of the Chaos series but I read it as a stand-alone and thought that it worked well on its own. I was hooked by this story almost immediately and quickly fell in love with the characters. I am so glad that I finally got around to reading this book!

Joker and Carissa were wonderful together. I liked seeing them as teenagers at the start of the book and seeing how much their lives had changed when they meet again years later. Joker and Carissa don’t seem to have a lot in common on the surface. Joker works with cars and is part of the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Carissa is recently divorced with a baby and trying to get by on her job at the local grocery store with next to no help from her ex-husband. But Carissa and Joker just work. She fits in with his friends right away and he does whatever he can to help her and is not intimidated by her ex. The chemistry between them was fantastic and I loved how they became a unit so quickly.

I thought that Kate Russell did a great job with the narration. I believe that this is the first time that I have listened to her narration but I enjoyed her reading from the start. I thought that she helped to bring these characters to life and added a lot of emotion into the reading. She had a very pleasant voice that was easy to listen to for hours at a time. I do believe that her narration added a lot to the story and look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others. This was a wonderful romance filled with wonderful characters who actually communicate with each other. My only complaint would be that the book was probably a bit longer than it needed to be but overall it was a great read. I look forward to reading more of this author’s work in the future.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley and purchased a copy of the audiobook.

  1. Great review! I am so happy that you liked this one here and if you enjoyed this one you will enjoy her other books! But most of her books are longer than ppl like (personally I love them longer as we see lots of great couple time on the pages and her writing is engaging enough for me to not notice as much).

    • There was a moment when I started to feel tired of the book but it passed quickly. I did really enjoy the book!

  2. I read Walk Through Fire and it too was long, which had me tiring of the story. Since then I wasn’t inclined to anymore of her books. I think I may reconsider after reading your review for this one.

    • I hope to read that one soon! This one felt a little long for a minute but the characters were able to pull me back into the story. I definitely recommend giving it a try!

  3. This was one of my favorites of the series (which I still have yet to finish). I seem to read her books out of order and treat them as standalones across all the series I’ve tried and it works. 😉

    • I just never thought to read this book as a stand-alone until now. I am looking forward to reading more of her books!

  4. Her name sounds so familiar. I need to go back and see if I’ve read anything by her. This sounds like a great read!

  5. I feel like KA does a great job hooking a reader quickly. Her books are always on the long side, but I find I can usually breeze through them pretty quickly. Love this series! Glad to see you enjoyed it, too, Carole and yay for knocking another old NG review book off your list!

    • I did enjoy this one quite a bit. The characters were amazing and I did get through the book rather quickly. I will definitely be reading more of this author’s work soon.
