Third Grave Dead Ahead is the third installment of Darynda Jones' award-winning paranormal series that's "hilarious and heartfelt, sexy and surprising." (J.R. Ward)

Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back! And she's drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the part-human, part-supermodel son of Satan. Yes, she did imprison him for all eternity, but come on. How is she supposed to solve a missing persons case, deal with an ego-driven doctor, calm her curmudgeonly dad, and take on a motorcycle gang hell-bent on murder when the devil's son just won't give up?

This was great! I really feel like the series is getting better with each book. This book takes place shortly after the events of the previous book and I would definitely recommend reading the series in order if at all possible. Charley is once again trying to juggle several mysteries and she is trying to do it with no sleep at that. Once I started listening to this book, I found it almost impossible to stop.

Charley hasn’t slept in around two weeks. This is by choice since every time she goes to sleep she sees the man she bound, Reyes. When a man shows up at her office wanting her to find his wife, she doesn’t take his money but decides to find out what is going on anyway. Her dad wants her to give up her private investigator business, there is a small problem with the local motorcycle gang, and a mystery involving Reyes to make matters even more interesting.

This book had all of the action, excitement, and humor that I was hoping for. I found the pacing of the story to be expertly done so that there was never a time that I felt like setting the book aside. The characters in the series are excellent and I think that I like them just a little bit more with each book that I pick up.

Lorelei King does an excellent job with this series, which is no surprise to me since she is one of my favorite narrators. I really like the voices that she uses for the various characters and love how consistent they have been in the series. I thought that she was able to add a bit of humor to the story at just the right times. I am certain that her narration added to my enjoyment of this wonderful story.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this series to others. I really like the fact that while this book came to a nice conclusion, it left me eager to pick up the next book in the series. I cannot wait to read more of this fantastic series!

Welcome to the world of grim reaper extraordinaire, Charley Davidson. Try as she might, there's no avoiding her destiny.

Sometimes being the grim reaper really is, well, grim. And since Charley's last case went so awry, she has taken a couple of months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above . . . or at least get dressed. It becomes clear something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she's insane. But the more they refute the woman's story, the more Charley believes it.
In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, is out of prison and out of Charley's life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved.
Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans in Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, the hilarious fourth installment in the New York Times bestselling series from Darynda Jones.

This was really good! I just love the humor that is worked into the story and found myself chuckling several times while listening to this book. Charley is quickly becoming a favorite character and I was eager to pick up this book after the events in the previous installment. Charley has barely left her house after surviving a close call but finally decides to take on a new case. I was hooked by this installment right away.

Charley does her best to help her new client who is convinced that someone is trying to kill her even though nobody seems to be taking her seriously. There were plenty of surprises worked into this case and I loved that it kept me guessing until the end. The other big news is the fact that there is finally some progress in Charlie and Reyes’s relationship. I can’t wait to see where things go for the pair.

Lorelei King does an amazing job with this series. I love the voices that she uses for the key characters and her delivery of the humor in the story is top-notch. I couldn’t imagine experiencing this story in any other format.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. It is a fun series filled with humor, great characters, and quite a few surprises. This is a series that does need to be read in order and I cannot wait to start reading the next book in the series.

Charley Davidson isn't your everyday, run-of-the-mill grim reaper. She's more of a paranormal private eye/grim reaper extraordinaire. However, she gets sidetracked when the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, moves in next door. To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case. Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth...but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason. When it becomes apparent that her own sister, Gemma, is the serial killer's next target Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes' help. Arsonist or not, he's the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return. Charley. All of her, body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she is willing to pay.

Charley Davidson is at it again in Fifth Grave Past the Light, the sexy, suspenseful, and laugh-out-loud funny fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling series by Darynda Jones.

This was fantastic! This series seems to keep getting better and better with each installment. I have fallen for the characters and want to see good things happen for them. Charley is juggling several things in this book which seems to be the way things work. Reyes has moved into her apartment building and dead women are showing up in her building. I could not stop listening to this installment once I started.

I am really enjoying the progression of the relationship between Charley and Reyes and hope to see them grow closer moving forward. There were some pretty big surprised worked into the story and I loved how Uncle Bob was there for Charley when she needed him. I was really worried about Charley for a bit but she proved just how tough she is.

Lorelei King does an amazing job of bringing this story to life. All of the character voices are distinctive and I love that she is able to add just the right amount of emotion to her performance. I definitely would recommend grabbing the audio with this entertaining series.

I think that this is a series that fans of urban fantasy will not want to miss. I am loving the brand of humor sprinkled throughout the story and feel invested in the lives of these characters. I cannot wait to read more of this entertaining series.

  1. The T-shirts are a crack up. Apparently Jones looked up actual stores that had funny t-shirts and used some of them. I agree, Loreleigh King does such a wonderful job here! She has amazing comedic timing! Glad you’re having fun with the series.
