The ice is a cold mistress. As the league’s most eligible goalie, Max Fournier has access to his fair share of willing puck bunnies, but right now he’s more interested in bringing home another championship than a one-night stand. A romantic at heart, Max believes in love; he’s just not great at relationships. So when he finally meets a nice girl who’s not blinded by his celebrity, he’s feeling the heat—and the pressure to save her from herself.

Between working two jobs and raising her sister’s kids, Julianne Bradley doesn’t have time for sports—or men. All she knows about Max is that he’s the sexiest customer to ever grace her gas-station counter. And he sees past her tired eyes and makes Jules yearn for things she can’t have: a glamorous fling, a passionate lover, and the time to enjoy both. Max makes her feel like Cinderella, even though Jules has enough baggage to crush a glass slipper. Luckily, he’s no prince—only a fierce competitor determined to win her heart.

My Review

I loved this book!  This book is my favorite book in the Cold Fury series that I have read by a lot.  I was completely swept away by this wonderful little story and didn’t want it to end.  It was just such a fun read that left me with a smile on my face.  I thought that it had a bit of a Cinderella feel to it which was a big plus for me.  I felt so much for these characters and really wanted to see them get their happily ever after.

Max was an excellent character.  There wasn’t anything about Max that I didn’t like.  He was really a perfect Hero in this book for me.  He was a seriously good guy who was incredibly patient throughout the book.  Everything he did to help Jules in this story made my heart melt just a little bit.  Even the way he acted towards his fans really illustrated how much this guy cared about others.

Jules was a great character as well.  She has been dealt a tough hand.  Her sister recently died and she now the guardian of her sister’s 3 children.  She does not take her responsiblities lightly.  She works hard to make enough money to support her household and rarely gets a moment to herself.  When Max enters her life, she refuses to take advantage of him and so she continues to provide for herself and her niece and nephews.

I loved Max and Jules as a couple.  This pair had a lot of chemistry and there were enough sexy times to keep things interesting.  I love that Max and Jules have a mutual respect for each other from the very beginning.  They both come with some difficulties and they work to adapt to each other.  I really loved that this couple actually talked to each other and there wasn’t a lack of communication.

I would highly recommend this book to others.  This is the sixth book in the Cold Fury series but it could easily be read as a stand alone.  There is a bit of focus on the couple from the last book, Hawke and Vale, that will give readers of the series another glimpse of that relationship as it builds.  I can’t wait to read the next book in the wonderful series!

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Random House Publishing Group – Loveswept via NetGalley.

About the Author

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Mary’s strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

  2. Yes please! This book sounds fantastic! I love the chemistry and the hockey angle. Plus I've been wanting to try Sawyer Bennett's books for awhile. I do have to admit that every time I see the name Sawyer I imagine the guy from Lost!
