Stacking the Shelves #101

Posted January 6, 2018 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 58 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

I guess it is back to reality this week after all of the holiday madness.  This is a week of birthdays at my house.  My husband had a birthday on Wednesday and my oldest daughter has one today.  Lots of reasons to celebrate around here.  It has been very cold here which is making me want to stay locked up in the house under a warm blanket.

Books for Review
Lake Silence by Anne Bishop (NetGalley)

I didn’t request any books from NetGalley or Edelweiss this week which is a step in the right direction.  I requested Lake Silence in early December and was thrilled to get the approval notice this week.  I only have one pending request right now.
Books Purchased

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas (Kindle Purchase)
Warcross by Marie Lu (Kindle Purchase)
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (Kindle Purchase)
Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab (Kindle Purchase)
Something Like Happy by Eva Woods (Kindle Purchase)

This is totally not my fault!  Did you see all the awesome sales last weekend?  I only paid $15.95 for all of these books and I had a gift card to cover everything.  These are books that I suspect my daughter will also want to read so it is a win-win for us!

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (Audible Purchase)
Run by Blake Crouch (Audible Purchase)
The X-Files: Cold Cases by Joe Harris, Chris Carter, Dirk Maggs – adaptation (Audible Purchase)
NOS4A2 by Joe Hill (Audible Purchase)
The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. by Neal Stephenson and Nicole Galland (Audible Purchase)

This is still not my fault!  I used up the remainder of my coupon balance on A Court of Wings and Ruin and Run.  I couldn’t resist picking up The X-Files when it went on sale for $2.95 since I know my husband and I will enjoy listening to it in the car together.  NOS4A2 and The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. were books that I grabbed with the 2 books for 1 credit sale that wrapped up on New Year’s Day.  The only money that actually came out of my bank account was $2.95 so I feel okay about going a bit crazy.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Happy birthday to you husband and daughter. I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating the birthdays. And happy New Year, Carole. Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy your new books. ?❤️

  2. I hope celebrating will keep you all warm…the reports on CNN look horrible! I always blame the authors for tempting us with books! I was actually too busy on the computer to get looking at the sales which is probably a good thing…this week I got three apocalypse downloads and a paperback zombie series ender!

  3. Wow! We have lots of birthdays in other months! Both my mom and stepdad are in June, plus their anniversary, then me and my niece are on the same day in December! My sister and my late grandpa had a birthday just a day apart in November! It's crazy how things turn out like that! Lol!

Nice new reads!! I cannot wait to read Lake Silence, though I REALLY need to finish the first series first! Lol! So behind on everything lately! Happy Reading!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. So many of those are books I need to get to too! Especially Strange the Dreamer, I don't know why I keep forgetting I have that ready to pick up. Here's hoping we both enjoy! And sales are the beeest.

    My STS.

  5. Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to your husband and daughter!! Ugh the cold is so bad. Then we got hit with the snow. I haven't left the house in a long time! Lots of great books – enjoy!! Have a great week!

  6. I still need to read Warcross. I'm not a huge VR/gaming fan, so I've been putting this book off. I'll probably wait until the whole series is out before going at it.

Hope both you and your daughter enjoy your new purchases!

  7. You got awesome deals!! Something Like Happy sounds really great. I am a fan of Warcross, so I hope you like it. Enjoy all your new books!

  9. Don't feel guilty about buying books!!! I love all these titles. Warcross was one of my favorite books of last year. I love the technology in it, and wish/hope some of these can be invented soon. Have a great time reading them.

  10. Happy birthday to your husband and daughter, hope you have a great weekend! Lake Silence looks so good. And hope you love Warcross! I thought that one was pretty fun…

  11. Happy Birthday to your husband and daughter!! Wow, you got some awesome books for not spending hardly anything. Go you! I own Strange the Dreamer and hope to read that soon. I also really want to read NOS4A2 and The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. – I'll have to see if my library has them.

  13. Hope everyone had a great birthday. I'm excited to read Lake Silence but need to read the last book that came out first. I did haul it from the library this week though. I see you're reading The Immortalists. I look forward to your thoughts before I start it.

  14. Happy Birthday to your husband and daughter! I hope you are warm and safe, Carole. I've been watching the news about the extreme cold and storms affecting parts of the U.S. I can't even imagine. I hope you see some warmer temperatures soon. I couldn't help but purchase Strange the Dreamer either while it was on sale. 🙂 I am excited to read Lake Silence, but first want to finish the other books set in the same world first. I'm behind on those.

I hope you have a great week, Carole. Happy New Year!

  15. If all the books are this cheap I don't blame you at all for getting them! I hope you enjoyed all of the birthday celebrations. Strange the Dreamer, Warcross and Our Dark Duet are all books I want to read too!
