Stacking the Shelves #122

Posted June 9, 2018 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 46 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life

This was a pretty normal week at our house.  My daughter had a jazz performance Sunday night which was nice.  This seems to be the time of year that everything around my house is breaking.  First, we had to pay our insurance deductible to fix our house and spent some money replacing groceries that were not covered.  Then our pool pump had to be replaced.  This week the lawn mower decided to take early retirement so we had to buy a new one.  I am thinking that since that is three major items we should be good for a while.  Right?

Books Added

Bishop by Sawyer Bennett (NetGalley)
Part-Time Lover by Lauren Blakely (Publisher)
I Was a Teenage Weredeer by C.T. Phipps and Michael Suttkus (Author)

I downloaded Bishop from NetGalley as soon as I saw it.   I am lucky enough to be auto-approved for Loveswept but have noticed a whole lot of their titles disappearing from NetGalley very quickly lately or not showing up at all so I add anything I want right away.  I enjoyed Part-Time Lover and my review is scheduled to post on Monday.  I remembered seeing a good review of I Was a Teenage Weredeer so I decided to request a copy from this week’s Audiobook Boom.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Yeah last week it seemed I was having one crap storm after another. I'm hoping what I thought was just part 2 to one of them was really #3! Lol!

Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones! I hope you enjoy them all! And that your crap storms are done too! 😉

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I hate when all the things break at the same time! We just had the basement flood and our lawn mower needed major service. Ugh to being a home owner sometimes! Hope you have a great week and happy reading!

  3. You would think that three things would be a limit. Hopefully, so. 🙂

Looks like you caught a few good snags at Net Galley. As summer approaches and I know I'll be off doing other stuff, I try really hard not to go near Net Galley as I have little self-control there. LOL

Have a good week, Carole, and hopefully all will stay in good repair for you.

  4. Oh what fun with the insurance and what not and replacing groceries is never fun. The few times I've had to do it I've always been surprised by the sheer amount of food I seem to have in my refrigerator. I've seen that a few publishers are going over to Edelweiss which I'm not real thrilled about as NetGalley is so much more user friendly. Have a great week!

    • We have so much food. I saved a lot of it by taking it to my mom's house but I couldn't save everything. Our power was out long enough that I decided to throw out most everything and start from scratch.

  5. Ugh trouble always seems to comer in threes. Hopefully you're in the clear for a while! Our lawnmower crashed too- I like that term "early retirement". 🙂 Ours didn't seem like it had earned retirement yet, but apparently it thought otherwise. Hope you have a great weekend. 🙂

  6. Sorry about your repairs. I have been waiting on mine as they aren't as serious. Some great books you picked up there. Enjoy your reading this week! Anne – Books of My Heart

  7. Those major expenses do seem to hit all at once, don't they? I feel for you, Carole. I hope things settle down for you soon on that front. I Was a Teenage Weredeer sounds different and interesting! I look forward to reading your thoughts on it and your other books. Have a great week, Carole. may the bills be nonexistent for us all.

  8. Ugh, it does seem like things like that happen in crappy clumps like that. 😀 I hope you guys are clear for a very long while! Enjoy your books, Carole!

  9. Jeez you haven't had much luck recently-I certainly hope that's an end to it now. I bought a pile of books and other stuff on my holiday but I'm not doing a post about it until my Friday weekend roundup!

  10. Bad things happen in threes, so you should be good to go for a while! 🙂

I didn't realize that about Loveswept. I will have to keep an eagle eye out for the titles I want and request ASAP!

    Thanks for sharing.

  11. I believe in the rule of three for the most part so I hope you're safe for a while. I Was a Teenage Were Deer sounds crazy, but interesting. Maybe I'll check it out eventually.
