Stacking the Shelves #129

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I am still working on recovering from surgery.    I remain pretty useless around the house and have spent my time laying around either with a book, an audiobook, or TV to keep me company.  I am supposed to go back to work on Thursday so I am trying to take it easy while I can.

I have tried to keep up with the blog and visit other bloggers but I am not sure if I have done such a great job with the task.  If I missed any return comments, I apologize and if I left any comments that didn’t make sense, I am going to have to blame the painkillers πŸ™‚

Books Added

Blood Cure by K.A. Linde (NetGalley)
Ravencry by Ed McDonald (NetGalley)
Kill the Queen by Jennifer Estep (Edelweiss)
Bad Call by Mike Scardino (Publisher)

I downloaded Blood Cure the moment I saw it on NetGalley and I can’t wait to see how this story wraps up.  I still need to read Blackwing but I am looking forward to RavencryKill the Queen looks and sounds amazing so I was thrilled to get my hands on an early copy of that one.  Bad Call was sent to me by the publisher and I have already finished the book.  It is a bit different than my normal read but one that I really enjoyed.

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman
A Dragon of a Different Color by Rachel Aaron
Paradox Bound by Peter Clines
Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs by Molly Harper
Sweet Tea and Sympathy by Molly Harper
Nice Girls Don’t Bite Their Neighbors by Molly Harper

Some the bargains that I picked up recently made their way to my mailbox this week.  On Amazon Prime Day there was a coupon for $5 off a $20 print book purchase so my daughter picked out two Becky Albertalli books to add to our shelves.  These are really her books but they are on my shelves so I might end up picking them up at some point.  I went a little crazy over at Audiobook Stand a couple of weeks ago picking up 6 more audiobooks for $4 each.  I am not sure when I will get to these but I am excited to add them to my collection.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

    • I can't spell so I'm trying again, lol. First, you're not useless! You're recovering and taking care of yourself is important. I hope going back to work is a smooth transition. Are you able to take more time off if you need to?

As for books, it looks like you got some pretty great things this week! I love that you let your daughter pick out books, and that she chose some that you are likely going to read yourself.

  1. I'm surprised at audiobooks for $4 each. They're usually so expensive! Definitely worth a spree πŸ™‚
I hope you're recovered enough by Thursday for work.

  2. Recuperation takes time. I've had a lot of surgeries in my youth and it always feels like it takes forever to get well enough to do X. Granted at that time I had homework I had to occupy myself. Of course I had no idea how to do those math problems…not sure they really grasped that when they gave me my assignments! Lol.

Hope your recovery speeds itself up this week! Nice new reads too! I was surprised by Edelweiss this week when 3 of my requests were approved and only 1 was already a released book that I had bought! Lol! Happy Reading!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. I hope you aren't going back to work too soon Carole-it sounds like you still need some quality rest. Hope the books turn out to be good! I might have a look at Kill The Queen when it comes out…

  4. Wishing you well as you continue to recover. Glad you got to read a few while you were down. Wow! Nice haul. Hope you both enjoy your book goodies!

    Have a good week, Carole!

  5. I hope you feel ok to go to work. I agree you should rest all you can before then, but depending on how active your job is you might want to practice sitting a bit.

I also got Some audiobooks from the sale which arrived this week. I got the Molly Harper Half-Moon Hollow ones you did. Enjoy! Anne – Books of My Heart

  6. Boo to going back to work, but I do hope that you are in tip top shape when you do. Tea and Sympathy is on my TBR. It sounds delightful. Doing a little Becky A reading, eh? Hope you love all your new books.

  7. After surgery you deserve to rest! Hope you feel better soon.
Blood Cure has a great cover and I so need to get started on that series. Happy reading!

  8. I also got the Blood Cure ARC as well, so I bought the two previous books, and I am currently reading book two and loving this trilogy so far. Its so awesome.

  9. I just requested a couple of books from Netgalley so we'll see if I get approved. Hopefully you start healing quickly now and feel up to going back to work when you're supposed to. Painkillers are great when you need to kill a little of that pain.

  10. Hope you feel better soon. I remember Mr. Barb had a difficult time bouncing back from his hernia surgery. What a wonderful haul and hey, that's a great price for audio books. Enjpy your rest!

  11. Take your time recovering! Health is important and you don't need to rush for anyone! I hope you will enjoy your new books. I have heard great things about Leah off Beat and I am currently reading The Upside of Unrequited at the moment as well. Hope we can both enjoy them ^.^
