Stacking the Shelves #140

Posted October 13, 2018 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 46 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This was a better week. Busy but better.  I spent a lot of the week trying to get caught up with all of the comments that I missed when everything got crazy.  I am writing this after the high school’s Homecoming football game where I had the pleasure of sitting in a cold drizzle for a couple of hours.  I am still trying to thaw out.  I am not ready for winter!  We just had summer so shouldn’t it be fall now?  All I know is that it was feeling like winter tonight!

My Saturday is filled with Homecoming festivities starting with a parade in the morning.  In the afternoon, the focus will shift to getting my daughter ready for the dance and then photos with a group of her friends.  Last year a group of parents grabbed a bite to eat while the kids went to the dance and I suspect that may happen once again.

It may be Sunday before I get a chance to return comments so please be patient with me.

Books Added

Cut and Run by Mary Burton (Goodreads Giveaway)
Ransacker by Emmy Laybourne (NetGalley)
Shades of Wicked by Jeaniene Frost (Publisher)
Fireworks by Sarina Bowen (Author/Publicist)
Someone Like Me by M.R. Carey (NetGalley)

I am so excited about the books that I added this week.  I won a copy of Cut and Run from a Goodreads giveaway which is great since I just recently read and enjoyed another book by Mary Burton.  I loved Berserker by Emmy Laybourne and have been watching NetGalley for the next book in the series so I was thrilled when my wish for Ransacker was approved.  I was more than a little excited to find Shades of Wicked by Jeaniene Frost on my front porch this week.  I adore Sarina Bowen and can’t wait to read Fireworks, the upcoming book in the True North series.  I requested Someone Like Me as soon as I saw that it was available on NetGalley.  I loved The Girl With All the Gifts so I am eager to try his newest book.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I like the sound of some of the plots in the Mary Burton books but I'm not sure about the romance element. I might try one of them just to see how I get on with it.

  2. Ahh! Shades of Wicked! I put a request in for that but never heard back! Oh well…we're nearing the release date at least! Hope you enjoy all your lovely new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. I know. It can't just drop 10 degrees to autumn; it has to drop 20-30 degrees. But I'm still glad for the cooler weather.

Great books which I hope you enjoy. You know I liked Cut and Run; and I just read The Accidentals by Sarina Bowen which I seem to remember your review. Enjoy!

Have a great week ahead! Anne – Books of My Heart

  4. I think we had like two weeks of fall and now it's winter. πŸ™ I am freezing! I know it could be worse and some other places already have snow but I am a wimp and so 50's during the day and 40's at night feel like winter to me!! πŸ™‚

Great haul, hope you enjoy all your reads!

  5. I've definitely been feeling like we went straight from summer to winter here in Colorado (except today we're getting early fall-ish temps).

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your new books. – Katie

  6. Aww, hope Homecoming goes well! We had it last weekend. πŸ™‚ And yes I hate it when it rains through a game like that, you just about freeze.

  7. Yes, it dipped down into the forties the last few days. I enjoyed bundling up, but then again, I wasn't sitting out in a drizzle for a few hours at that temp. The things we do for family. LOL
Our Homecoming was last weekend and they had a great night for the parade and dance though the football game was rainy.

Neat haul. I want to read that Mary Barton and Jeanniene Frost.

    Enjoy your new week! πŸ™‚

  8. funny to say winter, It's going to be a hot summer here in Australia. I have never experienced homecoming festivities, hope you enjoyed yours

  9. I am sooo ready for cooler weather, which we are finally supposed to get this week! I think the high for Tuesday is 53 degress, but it's nearly 90 degrees today. Texas jumps around a lot, and never wants to give in to cold weather. I want boots and jackets! I love sitting on the patio with a blanket, fire, and book.

  10. Football games in drizzle and rain are the worst. I remember attending some and being soaked to the bone. Hope everyone enjoyed Homecoming though – such exciting times for your daughter. Some great books here and I think the MR Carey is one I definitely want to read.
