One Snowy Night by Jill Shalvis
Series: Heartbreaker Bay #2.5
Publisher: Avon Impulse
Publication Date: November 8, 2016
Date Read: October 15, 2016
Source: Edelweiss

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl.

Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south.

They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.

My Review
I really enjoyed this novella.  The Heartbreaker Bay series has been just wonderful so far and this story features a couple of characters that we have met in previous books.  The story is short but there really is a whole lot going on between these characters.  It was really nice to watch Max and Rory open up with each other and begin there new relationship.

It is Christmas Eve and Rory wants to go home to visit family for the first time in a number of years.  Max grew up in the same town as Rory so he volunteers to give her a ride.  They have a lot of chemistry but they also have some history standing in their way.  As Max, Rory, and Max’s dog, Carl make their way home for the holiday, they run into some bad weather that changes their plans.

I liked Max and Rory together.  They both have some issues from their interconnected past that have affected their lives.  I liked how open they were with each other and really let the truth come out.  It turns out that things were not exactly what they seemed.  They have strong attraction to each other that really was hard to ignore.  Now that everything is out on the table, there is nothing stopping them from getting the happily ever after they both deserve.

I would recommend this novella to fans of contemporary romance.  This novella is part of the Heartbreaker Bay series and while it could be read as a stand alone, I think that fans of the series will get the most enjoyment from this story.  I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Avon Books via Edelweiss.

  1. I love Jill Shalvis but haven't gotten to this series yet though I really want too. This sounds fantastic! I love that there's a dog involved in the story as well. Shalvis has the best dogs!

  2. I am seeing her books everywhere right now. Really do need to try one:)
A favorite holiday tradition, hmm…This may sound weird, but we do a Wii bowling tournament each year. The winner gets there name, the date, and their score written on a family beer pitcher. LOL We sure have fun.
