This week’s neglected book

The Demonists by Thomas E. Sniegoski

Series: Demonist #1
Publication Date: April 5, 2016
Publisher: Ace Books

There is more to our world than meets the eye—darker things, crueler things. Exorcist John Fogg and his wife, psychic medium Theodora Knight, know what lurks in the shadows. But even they’re not prepared for the worst Hell has to offer…

It was supposed to be a simple exorcism, a publicity stunt to firmly establish John and Theodora’s thriving paranormal investigation empire in the public eye. But something went wrong, leading to an on-air massacre that unleashed a malicious host of demons and left Theodora catatonic, possessed by countless spirits.

John sets out on a desperate quest to find a cure for his wife, but his obsession brings him face-to-face with an even more terrifying problem: Theodora’s possession is only one piece of a deadly plot that is threatening the entire world. Because an ancient evil is about to make Earth its battlefield—and without John and Theodora’s intervention, there is no chance for salvation…

Why did I add The Demonists to my bookshelf?

I put this book on my wishlist after reading Barb’s 5-star review for it.  I was so excited to pick it up at Book Outlet in January for less than $2.  It’s not like the book has sat on my shelf for years but I would have thought I would have read it by now.

This week’s photo

My usual model, Molly, hasn’t been feeling great this week so I wasn’t sure that I would get a photo with one of the dogs.  I guess I caught Piper when she was ready for a nap.  She is now 5 1/2 months old and rarely slows down.  She didn’t seem bothered by what I was doing at all.  You would never guess that she was trying to bite the book just an hour before I took this shot.  I guess terrorizing a household is hard work.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. Aww such a cute photo this week! I can't believe you've had Piper for so long-it seems like last week that you brought her home. I tried The Demonists but it didn't really suit me and I DNFed it. I hope you have a better time with it and a couple of my blogger friends did enjoy it!

  2. Piper coordinates so well with this book. What a perfect picture. So you know how I feel about this one. Hope you enjoy it and hey, there's a pretty good sequel too!

  3. It does look like it would be pretty good. Neat that you got it for a steal at the Book Outlet. Ha! I have so many that I thought I'd read as soon as I got them.

  4. I know of this author. I got a book from Ace back at the beginning of my working with them A Kiss Before the Apocalypse by him. It's the first in another series and I really want to read it. I got that one in 2015. Sigh. I hope you get to it. I hear good things.

  5. I feel like I've seen this book before somewhere. I'm familiar with the author, though. He had a good angel series once upon a time.
