From insta-attraction to insta-hate. All that and a bag of chips.

In a sleepy southern coastal town crowned the Hollywood of the East, worlds collide and sparks fly when fate sets up two TV casting directors as accidental rivals.

It’s not just that the town isn’t quite big enough for the two of them. Violet Davenport brings deep roots, local allies, and old-fashioned Southern charm to the table. Nate Fowler’s got deep pockets, tech knowhow, and a family that’s worked in movies since the silent film days.

For their business—and their hearts—to survive, they'll have to overcome both a bitter hostility and a sweet insta-attraction.

In this enemies-to-lovers, new-in-town, one-night-stand improbable love story, a boss lady and a Hollywood bad boy find that you only get as good as you give.

I really liked this book! I have enjoyed all of Karen Grey’s work that I have read so far and this book continued that trend. I thought that the 90’s setting was well done and enjoyed going back to a time when answering machines were more common than cell phones. I was completely taken with these characters and was eager to see Violet and Nate figure out how to make things work.

Violet and Nate have such great chemistry from the start. I just knew that these two needed to be with each other. It was too bad that they soon learned that they were rivals because of their jobs. Violet just recently risked everything to be a full-time casting agent. Nate shows up in town to run his family’s casting agency and to steal work from Violet. They still couldn’t help but be drawn to each other and it doesn’t take long for their rivalry to become a partnership.

Violet and Nate were such great characters. As I made my way through this book, it soon became obvious that these were good people caught up in someone else’s drama. I really liked the fact that they were there for each other when they were most needed. Violet’s group of friends were also key players in the story and I really liked getting to know them. I am crossing my fingers that we will get to see more of them in future books.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. This was a fantastic romance that kept me glued to the pages. This is a great place to start with this author’s books since it is the start of a new series even though all of her books work well as stand-alone novels.

I received a digital review copy of this book from the author.

  1. I really liked them. Violet was more honest and good-hearted than I could have been, although their attraction with each other was strong. You nailed it when you said other people’s drama. They worked to get the outcome which was best suited to their own dreams.
