Acclaimed author Jessie Mihalik returns with the thrilling conclusion to her Starlight’s Shadow trilogy. An intergalactic thief must join forces with the charming teleporter who stole her last job—and may now be her only hope for saving her former crew.
As a recovery specialist, Lexi Bowen’s jobs typically require more trickery and thievery than honest work. Her former captain might not approve of her flexible morals, but stealing artifacts for rich assholes pays the bills, and Lexi’s had enough of war and death. The FHP left her to die once; she doesn’t plan to give them a chance to finish the job.
Unfortunately, her latest contract takes her to Valovia itself—and right back into the orbit of Nilo Shoren, a Valovian teleporter who already cost her one payday and nearly stole her heart.
Armored against his clever charm, Lexi plans to get in, get the job done, and get out. But when her former crew goes missing in Valovian space, Lexi will have to work with Nilo to figure out what happened—and stop it—before the galaxy’s two superpowers can use the disappearance as an excuse to return to war.
This was great! I really liked Lexi and Nilo and thought that the chemistry between them was incredibly well done. I loved getting a closer look at Nilo’s abilities and I thought that it was obvious very early on just how much he cared about Lexi. The story had its fair share of action and excitement and I was worried about the characters more than once. I believe that this book did a wonderful job of wrapping up a very enjoyable trilogy.
Lexi basically works as a thief when she is not on a mission with the crew of the Starlight. She finds herself in trouble on a job and Nilo is there to whisk her away to the safety of his home. When she learns that her friends aboard the Starlight might be in trouble she is determined to do what she can to help. Nilo also wants to help his friends but is equally focused on keeping Lexi safe. I thought that they made a fantastic pair and loved watching Lexi learn to trust Nilo.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. I thought that it was a very entertaining read. It is the third book in the Starlight’s Shadow series which ideally should be read in order. This book features a different couple than the two previous books so it could work as a stand-alone if necessary. I enjoyed getting a chance to catch up with this fun group of characters and was thrilled by Lexi and Nilo’s happily ever after. I cannot wait to read more of this author’s work.
I received a review copy of this book from Harper Voyager.
This sounds like it was an exciting and satisfying end to the trilogy. Glad you enjoyed it, Carole!
I just got the audiobook! Cannot wait to dive in. Great review!
I’m really looking forward to reading this one. I’ve read her other books and loved them all. She writes such fun romantic space adventures. 😀
I’m looking forward to this one on audio. It’s up next for me.
Another Jessie Mihalik series I need to get busy on. Glad you loved this pair and the trilogy, Carole!
So glad to see that this trilogy had a satisfying ending. It’s always so disappointing when a trilogy I’ve really loved ends a bit flat. This sounds really interesting!
I love when a trilogy sticks the landing, and it sounds like this one really met the mark!
I am reading this one right now and really enjoying it. I do love this series and all the world building. We need more sci fi romance like this being trad published. I would love to see this author trigger a trend in the romance genre. I would recommend reading these books in order though just due to how she world builds her series. But it does depend on the reader on how easy/difficult they catch onto details.
Lovely review!
I’m so excited!! I just reread the first two books in the series and was reminded again of why I loved them in the first place.
Eeek I need this last part
