Score one for the Carolina Cold Fury hockey team as a stone-cold badass melts for a woman who makes his blood run hot.
As one of the league’s toughest enforcers, Van Turner is ruthless on the ice. He plays hard because it’s the only way to channel the rage boiling inside, and a reputation as an A-hole is better than everyone knowing the truth. Van has spent his entire life running from a secret that’s kept him from getting involved in relationships—or accepting lucrative deals with East Coast teams. Then the Carolina Cold Fury makes him an offer he can’t refuse . . . and Van meets a woman he can’t resist.Simone Fournier is the stubborn one in her family—and that’s saying something, considering her brothers are two of the Cold Fury’s biggest stars. Simone gets what she wants, and what she wants is Van. Still, there’s a part of him Simone can’t reach, no matter how hard she tries. In private, he’s all fire and passion. In public, he freezes her out. Van may want to push her away, but Simone won’t let him go that easily. Because this time, she’s playing for keeps.
Sawyer Bennett’s New York Times bestselling Carolina Cold Fury series can be read together or separately.
This was great! Honestly, I think that this may be the hottest book in the series so far. If you follow my reviews, you probably already know that I am a huge fan of the Cold Fury Hockey series. I jumped into the series with the second book and haven’t looked back although I should probably check out the first book at some point. This is a series that works great as stand alone books but fans of the series will appreciate seeing well loved characters for just a bit. Van is a excellent addition to the series.
I went into this book hoping that I would like it as much as the others but not sure that I would warm up to Van as a Hero. Let me assure you that was not a problem because I fell completely in love with him. He has such an interesting history that really explains some of his behaviors. He is really a great guy that has spent his life trying to remain distant from other people.
Simone was something else. She is the baby sister of the two Fournier brothers that have been the Hero of their own books, Max and Lucas. Simone is at a crossroads in her life and is trying to figure out what direction she wants to go. One thing that she knows she wants is Van and I loved watching her go for what she wants. I loved how Simone isn’t afraid to take risks and was so willing to put her heart on the line.
This book actually takes place at the same time as the previous book in the series. You do not need to read the previous book to enjoy this one but I really enjoyed seeing certain events from a different perspective. The book opens with Simone moving into the house the her brother shares with Van. The chemistry between Simone and Van was wonderful and grew throughout the story. If you are looking for a steamy story, this one brings quite a bit of heat. I just loved this pair together.
I would recommend this book to others. I had so much fun reading this sexy romance with great characters. I can’t wait to read more from Sawyer Bennett very soon!

She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.
I have Alex on my TBR pile so I confess that I'm quite curious to try!
I still need to read Alex! I have read the rest of them and really enjoyed them.
I've been really enjoying sports romance lately so I'll have to try this one! It sounds great, and I always love when the chemistry between the two characters works well. Great review, Carole!
This is a great series, Lauren!
Sports romance is just so fun, dunno why, it just is
They really are!
This series is on my TBR. Glad you enjoyed this one. Great review!
They are great short reads, Grace!
Fun that Van surprised you. 🙂
There was really a lot of things going on with his character.
It is good to know you had fun with this title. I have not read anything by this author, it seems I have been missing out.
I would guess that you would enjoy this series, Nadene.
I KNEW this one would be great. I loved the way those two were sparring in the last book. I cannot wait to read it!!!
I can't wait to see what you think of it, Sam!
I haven't really gotten into sports romance, despite loving sports. However, I've been reading the Chicago Rebels series by Katie Meader, and loving them, so on the list these will go 🙂
I like this series because hockey is there but it doesn't overtake the romance.
I looked into this series after seeing this one on your earlier post. The first few sound pretty good. I may have to look into purchasing them sometime. (They can join the long list of adult romances I still need to buy.)
So many books!
Simone and Van sound perfect for each other! It's always interesting to read series with different characters but in which old (or future) characters make an appearance. You get a really different feel for those minor turned major characters.
I do like how this series really shows you many sides of the characters.
I really need to read a sexy romance! Looks like a lot of fun!
It was a lot of fun, Nina!
I haven't read all the books in this series, but the ones I have read I have LOVED! I just checked this out of the library today and I cannot wait to get started. So glad you loved this.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this one, Quinn!
I may need to give these another go. I know a few of yall who really enjoy them 🙂
I bet you would enjoy at least some of these books, Anna!
