Sparks fly when a journalist and a Navy SEAL cross paths in Thailand in this third entry in the thrilling and sexy Alpha Crew series from New York Times bestselling author Laura Griffin.
Journalist Karly Bonham is on her first overseas mission, covering the new United States ambassador to Thailand, when she is taken hostage by terrorists, with only her wits and courage to keep her alive—until help arrives in the form of Navy SEAL Ethan Dunn.
As part of an elite SEAL team called Alpha Crew, Ethan has been on countless harrowing missions, but he knows this one is different the instant he meets Karly—the sexy young reporter who somehow managed to escape the terrorists’ clutches. Ethan is impressed by her, especially when he learns she has intel that could be the key to a successful rescue op. Ethan knows working with a civilian raises the stakes on an already dangerous mission. But with the clock ticking down, he enlists Karly’s help to thwart a vicious plot and bring a terrorist mastermind to justice.
This was a very well done novella. I was really excited to win a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway because I have been wanting to try Laura Griffin’s writing for some time. I discovered that I really enjoy her work. This story really did a lot in just a few pages and left me feeling very satisfied in the end.
Karly is a journalist spending time with a United States ambassador at a resort in Thailand. Things end up going horribly wrong when terrorists attack the resort. Karly’s quick thinking may be what keeps her alive and her phone call at the start of the attack is what alerts others to what is happening.
This story started with a bang. There was so much action and I was in fear for Karly. She handles the situation a whole lot better than I would have been able to do. She meets Ethan, a Navy SEAL, during the rescue operation and they make a connection. That connection becomes even more intense when they run into each other later after everything is over.
I liked Karly and Ethan. Ethan was hard not to like. He was everything that Karly needed him to be during the rescue mission and was able to do what needed to be done. He was really willing to put everything on the line. Karly handles herself well under pressure but she does have some emotions to deal with when everything is over. I loved them together and thought that they had wonderful chemistry.
I would recommend this novella to others. This was an incredibly fast paced and action packed romance that had me turning pages as quickly as possible. I was completely entertained by Karly and Ethan’s story and have plans to read more from Laura Griffin soon.
I won a copy of this book from a giveaway on Goodreads.

I think a lot of readers would enjoy this one.
it's great to have a good novella like this one
It really worked well for me.
The beginning sounds super scary!
It was pretty intense!
I was planning to start with her Tracers series, but oh, this one looks great, too. Neat that the novella had so much going for it.
This one is great for those times when you are looking for a shorter read.
This sounds like a Suzanne Brockmann book! Action packed and sexy goodness. LOL
Great review.
It has been a while since I read Brockmann but that is a great comparison.
Karly and Ethan sound like a great couple. I wouldn't mind reading the beginning of this series too, sounds like something I would like. Great review and congrats on the win. 🙂
Thanks, Jenea! This really was a lot of fun!
Ooo tempting! I've been wanting to try her out and thinking I need to move them up some.
I like these short works to try out an author. I do like her style of story telling.
