Release Date: August 3, 2010
In the simmering hot summer of 1492, a monstrous evil is stirring within the Eternal City of Rome. The brutal murder of an alchemist sets off a desperate race to uncover the plot that threatens to extinguish the light of the Renaissance and plunge Europe back into medieval darkness.
Determined to avenge the killing of her father, Francesca Giordano defies all convention to claim for herself the position of poisoner serving Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia, head of the most notorious and dangerous family in Italy. She becomes the confidante of Lucrezia Borgia and the lover of Cesare Borgia. At the same time, she is drawn to the young renegade monk who yearns to save her life and her soul.
Navigating a web of treachery and deceit, Francesca pursues her father’s killer from the depths of Rome’s Jewish ghetto to the heights of the Vatican itself. In so doing, she sets the stage for the ultimate confrontation with ancient forces that will seek to use her darkest desires to achieve their own catastrophic ends.

Choosing which of the hundreds on my shelves to feature each week is the problem! Still, I won't run out of choices anytime soon!
I can't imagine ever running out of books for this feature. I seem to have a ton of fun looking through my shelves every week 🙂
Oh yes! This sounds fabulous. I want to put it on my own list 🙂 I've read a couple historicals in the world of the Borgias and its always intense.
I do think it sounds great. I just need to read it 🙂
I know this is off topic, but I tried commenting on your post Sophia Rose and was unable to do so. It didn't give me an option to add a note or comment, I'm afraid.
I figured it out! I had to follow her Tumblr. Whew.
I don't think I know this one. I hope you like it – especially since you have the sequel ready to go too!!!

I do hope I like it when I finally get around to reading it.
Working books into the reading schedule is always the hard part huh?
You know it!
oh it looks good
I hope it is!
I do that all the time and then I never read them 🙁
I have so many that I need to read. I even purged some unread books a few years back.
I've never read this one.
Hopefully, I will get to it at some point.
I think it was on a wishlist aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago, and then it got cut in a purge just cos I had to purge. But it does sound interesting
I have had to do some purging myself. You just can't read everything.
I love the cover and this looks gorgeous! I hope you read this one soon as I'd like to see what you think of it!
The cover is very well done.
Well it sounds good in the blurb. I'd like the mystery part but both historical and young adult sometimes don't work for me. I hope you enjoy it. Anne – Books of My Heart
Thanks, Anne!
This was such an amazing historical period, I love reading books from this era. I haven't read Poison though, but the author's name sounds familiar
I haven't read anything from this period in quite a while so I might be due for a read.
I am not familiar with this one, but I can see why it ended up on your TBR pile. I might have to read this one too!
It looks worth a try!
It does look interesting 🙂 Hope it turns out to be a good one.
I have my fingers crossed 🙂
