On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media–as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents–the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter–but is he really a killer?
As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. Trouble is, if Nick didn’t do it, where is that beautiful wife? And what was in that silvery gift box hidden in the back of her bedroom closet?
I think I've heard of this one… it sounds vaguely familiar. There are a lot of books I added to my TBR years ago, and there's no way for me to remember them all. If you have a chance to read this one, I hope you enjoy it!
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? ?
Also, do you like the new Inlinkz format? I thought it took up too much space!
I am not a fan of the Inlinkz format. I need to see if I can find a good alternative.
I forget the books that I have quite often. I have had fun searching my shelf for this feature every week.
You know, I do think it is just as fun every week to see this week's book, lol.
I haven't read that one either and I'm told that most of her books are good. One of these days.
I'm quirky in the same way that I wait until all the hubbub dies down before I get interested in actually reading the book I snagged when it released. 🙂
I read the book and watched the movie. So twisted!
I have seen this all over and the movie but like you, I am not always impressed by the popular.
Anne – Books of My Heart
I really enjoyed it. If your not spoiled for it then I would totally make time for it.
I haven't read this one.
I started this one once and it seemed very dense? Like slow moving in the beginning, but in fairness I don't think I gave it enough chance? I've heard so much about it that honestly- I really do want to read it.
Murder Mysteries aren't my thing, but I always get super intrigued when I read a good summary. Maybe someday. ?
This book was such a change of pace for me, and it's packed with unlikable characters, but I really liked it. The plot was just that well done, that I couldn't stop reading.
I'm always wary of hype on the few occasions that I read something popular. I've heard mixed things about this book but it isn't one that interested me personally so I know little about it! I hope you'll enjoy it!
I've heard great things. I want to try this one too. I will probably grab from the library one day. I hope you enjoy when you get to it.
Melanie @ Hot Listens & Books of My Heart
I read it soon after it came out and enjoyed it. I read it for a book club and we were all very split by the ending. I thought it worked and I'll be curious to see what you think of it.
I actually want to try this book eventually! I have Sharp Objects by this author on my shelf so I might try reading that one first, but it sounds like this would be a good follow up and I do want to know about the hype…
