It’s love. Trust me.
After a lifetime on the move, Ivy Snow is an expert in all things temporary—schools, friends, and way too many Mr. Wrongs. Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.
Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-terms plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.
This was another great read from Jill Shalvis. I have been with the Heartbreaker Bay series since it started and have looked forward to each installment. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone but readers of the series will enjoy catching up with well-loved characters. This series has been consistently good so I went into it with rather high expectations and it was just as good as I hoped it would be.
This book is Ivy and Kel’s story. Ivy is part of the friend group that is at the core of this series. She runs the taco truck and has finally started to put down some roots. She moved around a lot growing up and learned how to take care of herself. She is really hesitant to think about anything long term since her plans don’t usually work out. Kel is Cal’s cousin from Idaho. He works as a sheriff and runs the family ranch but is helping his cousin out while he takes a bit of a break. Kel also is bothered by things from his past which is having a big impact on his present.
I loved these two together. They had wonderful chemistry with each other and I felt like they had a lot in common. They both just seemed to be a little bit better when they were together. I loved the way that Kel watched out for Ivy and felt protective towards her. Ivy was able to help Kel make progress with the demons from his past. They were both hesitant to think long term but the pull towards each other was so great they couldn’t stay away from each other.
I would highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This was a fantastic romance with fantastic characters and just the right amount of heat. While this is a Christmas story, the festive details were extremely minor so it would be a great book to pick up at any time of the year. I can’t wait to read more in this wonderful series.

Review twins 🙂 I had fun with this and just love the setting and the group of friends.
Always splendid when a book lives up to expectation. I like that you saw them as a stronger couple than apart.
So glad you enjoyed this one! I’ve actually never read anything by Shalvis. Her backlist is absolutely huge and a little intimidating!
Her stories are always cue and it's beena while since I haven't read one
I have yet to read Shalvis but her books always sound tempting to me. One of these days I'll catch up and read one.
Ohhh I have this one to listen to 😀
I am always happy after reading a Jill Shalivis book. I love that she did a crossover, and I was very into the ending she gave us to.
I enjoy Jill Shalvis's romances and would like to read this one. I actually haven't read too many (and so I have a lot to look forward to!). I am glad you enjoyed this one. Her books always make me smile at the end.
I have enjoyed several of her books and have more to read. This sounds wonderful:)
Glad this was another good book in the seties for you. I like the Christmas hint on the cover, especially as you note this isn't an overtly Christmas story
I'm a huge fan of this series as well. I think I'm pretty up to date but I'm not sure now. Lol. I have to check them out.
I am the kind of reader who doesn't take a mind of the season and reads festive books like this all year round. And it would also be doubly okay seeing as the festive elements are minor. I am glad you enjoyed this romance 🙂
