This week’s neglected book

Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris

Publication Date: June 19, 2018
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press

Finn and Layla are young, in love, and on vacation. They’re driving along the highway when Finn decides to stop at a service station to use the restroom. He hops out of the car, locks the doors behind him, and goes inside. When he returns Layla is gone—never to be seen again. That is the story Finn told to the police. But it is not the whole story.

Ten years later Finn is engaged to Layla’s sister, Ellen. Their shared grief over what happened to Layla drew them close and now they intend to remain together. Still, there’s something about Ellen that Finn has never fully understood. His heart wants to believe that she is the one for him…even though a sixth sense tells him not to trust her.

Then, not long before he and Ellen are to be married, Finn gets a phone call. Someone from his past has seen Layla—hiding in plain sight. There are other odd occurrences: Long-lost items from Layla’s past that keep turning up around Finn and Ellen’s house. Emails from strangers who seem to know too much. Secret messages, clues, warnings. If Layla is alive—and on Finn’s trail—what does she want? And how much does she know?

A tour de force of psychological suspense, Bring Me Back will have you questioning everything and everyone until its stunning climax.

Why did I add Bring Me Back to my bookshelf?
This book was an unsolicited review copy that I have had for more than a year.  I didn’t ask for it but it sounds like something I would probably like. Since it is rather short, I added it to my tbr list but I just haven’t been able to work it in yet.  Based on my Goodreads friends, the reviews for this book are pretty mixed.  I hope I fall into the group that liked the book once I do give it a try.  My library does have a copy of the audiobook so I may go that route so I can fit it in sooner.

Molly decided to model this week’s book for you.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. I haven't read this one, but the premise reminds me a little of that movie The Vanished with Kiefer Sutherland and I think Sandra Bullock in the way that she disappears after stopping at a gas station/convenience mart. It was years ago, but the movie still creeps me out even though it was good. I'm interested in hearing your thoughts when you finish. I might want to read it.

  2. Molly looks so cute with this book. I remember seeing this one around back when it first came out. I don't really read much suspense/thrillers, though. For me, when I am on the fence, I am more willing to listen to the audio than read the book.

  3. I hope you'll enjoy it when you pick it up. I'm sure I have some of such books in my pile somewhere — you know, neglected for-review copies. Sigh.

  4. I have this one on my TBR shelf too. I enjoyed B.A. Paris's Behind Closed Doors and was looking forward to this one. Then so many of my blogger friends were DNFing it or didn't care for it. I kind of lost interest. Maybe I will give it a try still. I hope you enjoy it when you read it, Carole! Have a great weekend!

  5. I haven't read this book, but it sure sounds interesting even though these types of stories aren't usually my type of thing. I'm going to check out some of the reviews on Goodreads. Thanks for the heads up! ?✨
