Love burns white-hot in this first scorching romance in an all-new trilogy about a family of firefighters from the New York Times bestselling author of the Play-by-Play novels and the Hope series.
Firefighter Jackson Donovan doesn’t look back—as a rule. So when his past comes roaring back to life in the form of not-so-damsel-in-distress Becks Benning, the last thing he wants to do is relive old times. No matter how tempting she makes it seem…
Now thanks to his two interfering brothers, Becks is living with them while she looks for a new place and tries to pick up the pieces of her tattoo business that went up in flames. Which means a grown up, smokin’ hot Becks is in his house, sharing meals, and digging up old wounds. And despite his better judgement, the more time he spends with this smart, artistic, incredible woman the more he wants her in his bed—and his future.
Becks always had it bad for Jackson. Unfortunately for her, not much has changed—he’s still honorable, hard-working, sexy as sin—and closed off. But there’s more than one way to get to a man’s heart and if Jackson doesn’t want to recall old memories, she’ll just have to help him make new ones. Because now that she’s found Jackson again, she’s not letting him go.
I really enjoyed this book. I have seen Jaci Burton’s books around for quite some time but never picked one up before I started reading this book. I think I made a good choice by starting at the beginning of a new series. It did take me a while to get through this book but that has more to do with the things going on in the world than anything else. I had a good time with this story and am glad that I finally gave this author a try.
Jackson is the oldest of brothers and has always felt like it is his job to protect those he cares about. He was homeless as a child and bonded with two other boys that he now considers to be his brothers. The trio was adopted by a firefighter who saved them when they were trapped in a burning home. All three men are now firefighters. During the course of clearing a fire, he encounters Becks who was also a homeless child but he doesn’t remember her from that date. His brothers offer to let Becks stay with them for a while after the fire destroys both her apartment and business.
I really liked Jackson and Becks. Their history was a little different than what you might find in a typical romance. They had fantastic chemistry and were both dealing with issues from their past. Jackson tended to keep things in and wasn’t always open to sharing like Becks hoped he would. I really thought that they were a good fit and I was really eager to see things work out for them.
I would recommend this book to others. It was a great start to the trilogy that left me eager to read the other brothers’ stories. I look forward to reading more from this wonderful author.

New York Times bestselling author Jaci Burton is back with a friends-to-lovers romance sure to melt hearts as one smokin’-hot fireman turns up the heat on love.
Relationships. Firefighter Rafe Donovan avoids them whenever possible. He loves dating women, but he makes sure they know up front that he’s in it for fun, great sex and nothing more.
Fun. As an ER nurse and official caretaker of her disabled grandfather, Carmen Lewis doesn’t have time for fun. But Rafe has been there for Carmen–and her grandfather–time and again, and he’s clearly interested in her. She knows he’s a player, but she’s tempted by his charm and incredible body. And maybe a little fun isn’t a bad thing, as long as she keeps her heart away from this fiery game she’s enjoying with a very hot man.
Love. It doesn’t take Rafe long to realize that until now he’s only been playing at romance. With Carmen he feels searing passion and heart-tugging emotion for the first time. Now he has to convince Carmen that what they have together is the real deal.
I had a great time with this book! I actually enjoyed this book a bit more than the first book in the series. Both books were really good but I think that I just related to the main characters in this one a bit more. This is the second book in the Brotherhood by Fire trilogy and while it could be read as a standalone, I think that it is best to read them in order if possible. I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic story.
Rafe and his brothers are roommates and they all work at the local fire department. At the start of this story, Rafe finds himself at the mercy of his next-door neighbor, Carmen. Carmen is a nurse who works at the local emergency room. She lives with and cares for her elderly grandfather who has some health issues. Rafe dates a lot and likes to have a good time while Carmen is more serious and hesitant to do anything for herself.
I thought that Rafe and Carmen were perfect for each other. They had amazing chemistry and seemed to be exactly what the other needed. Rafe seemed to feel comfortable in every situation and I love the way that he just seemed to fit into Carmen’s life. I liked that they talked to each other about some pretty serious issues from their past. They both did make a few boneheaded moves but I was happy that everything did work out in the end.
I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be a wonderful romance that was able to put a big smile on my face. There was some unnecessary drama towards the end of the story but that would be my only complaint. I look forward to reading Kal’s story very soon.

I could totally see myself reading this 😀 Though I did get burned on the last one I read by her
It's been so long since I haven't read one of her books
They both sound like great books. Glad you enjoyed them both.
I enjoyed both of these also. I struggle with the how realistic is that in contemporary romance. I thought these were pretty good. Wonderful reviews!

I can’t believe I haven’t read anything by Jaci Burton yet. I’m not sure I’ve ever read a firefighter romance but these definitely sound good!
This looks like a fun read for right now and Jaci Burton is an author that I always mean to read but never have. It's been awhile since I read a firefighter romance.
I'm with you. I enjoyed the second book a bit more too. Maybe it was because there was less angst or that we were getting more fun, family moments? Regardless, I am enjoying the series. I love the concept, and am looking forward to the next brother's book.
i'm in the mood for hot firemen definitely
This sounds like my kind of series! Heated romances which are good fun to read, and we can't say no to firefighters! I also really like when my romance series are companion novels and they follow different characters from the same family or friendship group. This sounds so up my alley.
