I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
You may remember that we started having water come into our basement last Saturday. It just kept coming, and we spent the week cleaning up water. For most of our waking hours we have 3 shop vacs and a carpet cleaner sucking up water and towels where needed. I did so many loads of laundry, trying to keep a fresh supply of towels ready to go. The water finally stopped on Friday, and I hope that we don’t see any more big rains for a very long time.
We were able to get 2 quotes to do some work to prevent this from happening in the future. It is going to be very expensive, but it needs to be done. I spent a lot of time during the week trying to figure out how to access the funds that I knew we will need to get this fixed. We also have to start getting all of our stuff out of the garage before major repairs can begin. I am not looking forward to it.
One of my 2 pairs of glasses came in! I sent my husband to pick them up while I was working. I feel like the world is in focus again. I am still waiting for the pair that I will use for the computer and wear at work, and I cannot wait to get my hands on them so I can see all the time.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I didn’t finish any books this week, but I think that things may be picking up soon. I listened to a bit of The Love Haters by Katherine Center and look forward to getting back to it. I have wanted to re-read one of my favorite series from my high school days for a long time. I guess I decided that now is the time so I started reading Heaven by V.C. Andrews. It will be interesting to see what I think of this book as an adult. I need to read Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card for the book group that I am running at the library, so I was able to read about 30% of this book during my work day and am really enjoying it.

I downloaded Tina by Niall Harbison because I have a soft spot for dogs. After grabbing the book from NetGalley, I realized that I couldn’t send it to my Kindle, so I have been reading it on the computer in between patrons while I am at the library desks. I once again didn’t make any progress with King Sorrow by Joe Hill or Before the Hunt by Barry Lyga, but I hope to get back to both soon as my eyes allow.
Books Added

Tina: The Dog Who Changed the World by Niall Harbison (Publisher); Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry (Publisher); Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?

So sorry to hear about the house troubles. Fingers crossed we have clear skies for a while. Glad the new glasses are getting the job done.
Ugh, sorry about the continued basement issues. I hope you’re able to get them fixed. I remember my parents’ repair cost was high and the dreadful service we received made it worse since they did so much wrong. Ugh. Wishing you the best of luck with this! And yay for the new glasses! Hope you can get back to reading and all the things very soon!
Nice new reads! New to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

I’m sorry about all that flooding. What a messy job to clean up. And expensive to fix! At least you got new glasses that help you see better. That’s a good thing.
I empathize about the house. For awhile, it felt like something broke and needed repair / replacement every week. Glad to hear you got your glasses. I’ll have to look at that Holly Jackson. I liked her other books.

Hopefully you won’t have any more rain until you can have it fixed.
What a nightmare you’ve had to deal with in regards to the flooding of your basement and the clean up! I am sorry you have been dealing with that, Carole. I hope you are continuing to enjoy your reading. Katherine Center’s book sounds good. I’ll have to look for it. I hope you have a good week, no more rain, and that you have your computer glasses soon. I am glad your new glasses that you do have are working well! Take care.
Our washer line collapsed (we’re on a septic tank) and I’ve spent the last couple of weeks learning about soil engineers and field lines and all kinds of other things involving water so I feel your pain. Yay for new glasses and being able to have the world in focus again! I loved Ender’s Game and really didn’t expect to though there was an epilogue in the edition I read that I didn’t enjoy. Have a great week!
Oh no, water coming in is bad :/
