This week’s neglected book

The  7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
Publication Date:September 18, 2018
Publisher: Sourcebooks Landmark

Aiden Bishop knows the rules. Evelyn Hardcastle will die every day until he can identify her killer and break the cycle. But every time the day begins again, Aiden wakes up in the body of a different guest at Blackheath Manor. And some of his hosts are more helpful than others.

For fans of Claire North, and Kate Atkinson, The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is a breathlessly addictive mystery that follows one man’s race against time to find a killer, with an astonishing time-turning twist that means nothing and no one are quite what they seem….

This inventive debut twists together a thriller of such unexpected creativity it will leave readers guessing until the very last page.

Why did I add The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle to my bookshelf?
I picked this book up at a local thrift store because it sounded rather interesting.  It seems like the majority of my Goodreads friends have really enjoyed it but there are a few readers that didn’t care for it at all.  I have seen a few comparisons to the movie Groundhog Day which has made me quite curious about this one.

A Quick Update

We are almost ready to list our house!  I actually spent most of Wednesday evening filling out all of the paperwork required to get things moving.  Workers are finishing painting, trim, and carpeting will need to go down in the basement.  My task is now to start setting up the required inspections and keep things looking pretty until the house belongs to a new owner.  Selling is a lot of work!
In other news, we had a pretty bad storm earlier this week which knocked our power for a little over a day.  Power outages in the heat of August are never a good thing but I did end up with a bit of time to actually read a little.  I am so happy to finish the book that I started back in June this week.  I have even made it through a couple of short audiobooks so maybe there is still hope for me 🙂

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. I remember seeing this one around. Sounds like an interesting approach to a mystery. Sorry you got hit by that storm. I was lucky when the storm came through here since my wires are underground. We only lost cable. How exciting that you are almost ready to sell. I hope it goes quick and you get a good price.

  2. I have this on my TBR right now. I'm really intrigued by this but the size kinda scares me.

and good luck with selling the house!
