This week’s neglected book

 Bitten by Kelley Armstrong
Publication Date: September 21, 2001
Publisher: Plume Books

Elena Michaels is the
world’s only female werewolf. And she’s tired of it. Tired of a life
spent hiding and protecting, a life where her most important job is
hunting down rogue werewolves. Tired of a world that not only accepts
the worst in her–her temper, her violence–but requires it. Worst of all,
she realizes she’s growing content with that life, with being that
person.

So she left the Pack and returned to Toronto where she’s
trying to live as a human. When the Pack leader calls asking for her
help fighting a sudden uprising, she only agrees because she owes him.
Once this is over, she’ll be squared with the Pack and free to live life
as a human. Which is what she wants. Really.

Why did I add Bitten to my bookshelf?

I am currently reading Kelley Armstrong’s upcoming novel in her Rockton series, A Stranger in Town, and I am loving it as I have loved the rest of the series.  I have also read a couple of her stand-alone mysteries but I haven’t tackled any of her urban fantasy titles yet and I have no idea why.  I have had a copy of Bitten sitting on my Kindle for the past 4 years.  I love the genre and I love the author so I really have no excuses for not giving this one a try.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. I do not believe I have read any *real* UF books, but I am always seeing raves about Armstrong. Seems like a good bet, if you like werewolves.

  2. I just finished the first in her Cainsville series and it had the paranormal elements mixed with a whiff of romantic suspense. I want to get to her UF books too.

  3. I've only read 1 book by Kelley Armstrong and I think I enjoyed it then and I thought I should read more of her books but I never really got around them.
Hope you enjoy this when you get to it, Carole!

  4. This is the only one from this series which I have read so far. I expect I will go back to it someday. I remember it was rather complex and the world-building in the first in a series can make it harder to love.
