Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks.

This week’s neglected book

Dead Girls Are Easy by Terri Garey
Series: Nicki Styx #1
Publication Date: August 28, 2007
Publisher: Avon Books

There’s something about almost dying that makes a girl rethink her priorities. Take Nicki Styx—she was strictly goth and vintage, until a brush with the afterlife leaves her with the ability to see dead people.

Before you can say boo, Atlanta’s ghosts are knocking at Nicki’s door. Now her days consist of reluctantly cleaning up messes left by the dearly departed, leading ghouls to the Light . . . and one-on-one anatomy lessons with Dr. Joe Bascombe, the dreamy surgeon who saved her life. All this catering to the deceased is a real drag, especially for a girl who’d rather be playing hanky-panky with her hunky new boyfriend . . . who’s beginning to think she’s totally nuts.

But things get even more complicated when a friend foolishly sells her soul to the devil, and Nicki’s new gift lands her in some deep voodoo.

As it turns out for Nicki Styx, death was just the beginning.

Why did I add Dead Girls Are Easy to my bookshelf?

I bought this ebook back in 2011.  It looks like I have 3 of the 4 books on my Kindle just waiting to be read.  It looks like these books have since been re-titled with new covers in Kindle and are no longer in print.  I do think it sounds like something I would like and hope to get to it at some point.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. This sounds like something I would enjoy too. I hope you get to it (and the two other books as well). I wonder how many unread books I have on my shelf that have been retitled and given new covers? I wouldn't be surprised to find one or two. Thank you for hosting, Carole!

  2. it's kind of easy to forget ebooks just because you don't see them much. it sometimes saddens me when I find out a book I have on my tbr or have read goes out of print.
Hope you do enjoy this series when you get to it, Carole 🙂

  3. I never read this series, but if you own 3/4 of the books, you should give it a try. Is it campy? Because between the title and the MC's name I am feeling a bit of camp (and I love campy stuff)

  4. I might not be remembering right, but I think this is the series that I saw a few years back getting review and someone really enjoyed it. It looks fun!

  5. Hmm if it was kickass uf/pnr I might like it but if it is campy pnr / quirky cozy mystery maybe not? It depends on what you like. The campy quirky sometimes is too far from reality for me. (which I don't know why the kickass version works for me?)
