The stakes are high—and the passions are higher—in the New York Times bestselling author’s sexy post-apocalyptic thriller.
Before surviving the Scorpius bacterium, Tace Justice was a good ole Texas cowboy who served his country and loved his mama. After Scorpius, the world became dark, dangerous, and deadly—and so did he. The Vanguard medic is stronger, faster, and smarter than before, but he’s lost the line between right and wrong. His passion is absolute, and when he focuses it on one woman, there’s no turning back for either of them…
Sami Steel has been fighting to survive right alongside Tace, convincing the Vanguard soldiers she’s one of them. In truth, Sami is a former hacker turned government agent who worked at The Bunker, where scientists stored both contaminants and cures. Only she knows the location, and she’s not telling. Yet when passion explodes between her and Tace, she’ll do anything it takes to save him.
This was good! This is the third installment in the Scorpius Syndrome series which takes place in a world torn apart by a deadly bacteria. This is a series that really should be read in order since each book builds on the previous installments. I have been looking forward to Tace’s story since he showed up in the first book and I am happy to say that it did not disappoint.
Tace is an incredibly interesting character and Sami was the perfect match for him. Tace has survived the Scorpius bacteria but it has left him changed. He is struggling with a lot of things but doesn’t want everyone to know exactly what he is going through. Sami is a respected member of the Vanguard group but people have started to doubt her story with good reason. The truth about her past is about to be revealed and she is not sure how everyone will feel about it. Tace and Sami made a great pair and really did whatever was necessary to watch each other’s back.
Michael Pauley did a great job with the narration of this story. I liked the variety of voices that he used that helped the dialogue flow smoothly between the characters. I thought that he did a great job of adding a bit of excitement to his voice that had a big impact. I am certain that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.
I would recommend this story to others. This book had all of the action and excitement that I was looking for along with a solid romance between two characters that were easy to fall for. I cannot wait to read more of this series!
I received a digital review copy of this book from Kensington Books via NetGalley and purchased a copy of the audiobook.
This sounds like a fun one, though I’d probably need to start with the first book.
She has been on my author wish list for awhile, so many of my blogger and reader friends really enjoy her. Thanks for keeping her on my radar
Eeek deadly bacteria!
