In the captivating start to a new, darkly lyrical fantasy series for readers of Leigh Bardugo and Sabaa Tahir, Tea can raise the dead, but resurrection comes at a price...
Let me be clear: I never intended to raise my brother from his grave, though he may claim otherwise. If there’s anything I’ve learned from him in the years since, it’s that the dead hide truths as well as the living.
When Tea accidentally resurrects her brother from the dead, she learns she is different from the other witches in her family. Her gift for necromancy means that she’s a bone witch, a title that makes her feared and ostracized by her community. But Tea finds solace and guidance with an older, wiser bone witch, who takes Tea and her brother to another land for training.
In her new home, Tea puts all her energy into becoming an asha—one who can wield elemental magic. But dark forces are approaching quickly, and in the face of danger, Tea will have to overcome her obstacles…and make a powerful choice.
Why did I add The Bone Witch to my bookshelf?
Surprise, I am featuring yet another past-due NetGalley book. (You’re not really surprised are you?) I have heard good things about this series and do still want to give this book a try. I am currently using a one-month trial on Audible and since this book is a part of the Audible+ program, I am determined to get to this one before the month is over.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book? Would you recommend it?
Oh yes I remember seeing this one around
I am excited to finally get around to reading it.
I vaguely remember this one…I think I ended up DNFing it sadly. Grew on to be really popular, so I guess it’s no surprise that I DNFed it before that?? Lol. Definitely plan on joining this meme in October when I run out of my random factoids! This looks like fun!
I am okay if I DNF a book. I am just ready to scratch it from my list. I look forward to having you join in soon!
I’m not surprised it happens to us all. I love the cover but YA is not always my favorite.
Eventually, I will get caught up. I hope.
The Bone Witch has a great cover. First time I’ve heard of this one.
I do love the cover!
Haha, yes, I might have a few overdue NetGalleys still on the pile, but yay for the incentive of a free trial to get this one off the pile. I like the sound of it.
I love catching up with these past due books by grabbing the audio so this is a perfect opportunity.
I haven’t heard of this one, but I am really loving that cover. I hope you end up loving this one here.
I think that they did a great job with the covers for this series.
I remember seeing this one everywhere when it came out. Hope it’s a winner for you
I have my fingers crossed!
I’ve had this one on my list to listen to for a while since it is available with my Audible membership, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I hope you like it!
There are quite a few books that I want to listen to available through Audible +. I just wish that I had the time to get to all of them.
I enjoyed this despite the slow pace.
I will have to keep in mind that this book moves a little slower.
I have past due NGs too! I’ve been trying to catch up. Hope this one is good. I have Audible so I’ll have to check it out on the Plus catalog.
I think everybody, or almost everybody, that has used NetGalley for a while has a few past-due books to catch up on.
I’ve heard really amazing reviews about this book and really negative reviews. I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of it!
