In the captivating start to a new, darkly lyrical fantasy series for readers of Leigh Bardugo and Sabaa Tahir, Tea can raise the dead, but resurrection comes at a price...

Let me be clear: I never intended to raise my brother from his grave, though he may claim otherwise. If there’s anything I’ve learned from him in the years since, it’s that the dead hide truths as well as the living.

When Tea accidentally resurrects her brother from the dead, she learns she is different from the other witches in her family. Her gift for necromancy means that she’s a bone witch, a title that makes her feared and ostracized by her community. But Tea finds solace and guidance with an older, wiser bone witch, who takes Tea and her brother to another land for training.

In her new home, Tea puts all her energy into becoming an asha—one who can wield elemental magic. But dark forces are approaching quickly, and in the face of danger, Tea will have to overcome her obstacles…and make a powerful choice.

Why did I add The Bone Witch to my bookshelf?

Surprise, I am featuring yet another past-due NetGalley book. (You’re not really surprised are you?) I have heard good things about this series and do still want to give this book a try. I am currently using a one-month trial on Audible and since this book is a part of the Audible+ program, I am determined to get to this one before the month is over.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it?

  1. I vaguely remember this one…I think I ended up DNFing it sadly. Grew on to be really popular, so I guess it’s no surprise that I DNFed it before that?? Lol. Definitely plan on joining this meme in October when I run out of my random factoids! This looks like fun!

  2. Haha, yes, I might have a few overdue NetGalleys still on the pile, but yay for the incentive of a free trial to get this one off the pile. I like the sound of it.

    • There are quite a few books that I want to listen to available through Audible +. I just wish that I had the time to get to all of them.

  3. I’ve heard really amazing reviews about this book and really negative reviews. I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of it!
